In this video I’m talking with Onno de Weerd. The 28 year old owner of Karasu-Knives here in Amsterdam.
I’ve been visiting his little Japanese knife shop quite a few times in the past 3 years, and I’ve become a fan of his genuine passion, knowledge, attitude and approach to the wonderful world of Japanese knives.
Onno recently went to Japan for the first time to meet all the blacksmith’s and craftsmen he has been representing for the past years in his little store. And he was kind enough to take the time and tell me some stories about his experiences and impressions.
Onno will be talking about how and why he started with Karasu-Knives after getting in touch with Hitohira, his one and only supplier. And then takes us with him around Japan… meeting the wonderful people at Morihei, Hi-Condition, Tsukasa & Mitsumi Hinoura, Isao Mizuno, Iwasaki Kamisori, Toru Tamura & Naohito Myojin from Tetsujin, Tanaka Uchihamono, Satoshi Nakagawa, Kenji Togashi, and Jiro Nakagawa…traveling to Tokyo, Kyoto, Sanjo, Sakai, Seki, Nagano in just two weeks.
