I met my japanese husband in my country (Mexico) , he was studying there in the university, he adapted very well to the "love mexican culture" and did hugs, kisses and said I love you , very lovely, now we are married and still the same, el es muy carinioso

No solo es interesante la conversación, sino también creo que son muy buenos para practicar la escucha en japonés :) Es verdad que en realidad el modo de expresar el amor depende mucho de la persona (soy chileno y mi modo es más parecido al japonés), pero claramente hay tendencias marcadas por la cultura. Hace unos veinte años conocí a muchos japoneses para hacer intercambio lingüístico mientras estudiaba japonés. Me he reído mucho con este vídeo porque recuerdo todo lo que estáis contando. Recuerdo lo raros que me parecían nuestros encuentros al principio, porque nunca sabíamos cómo saludarnos. En los abrazos se ponían en una postura fija concreta, en lugar de adaptarse al momento, y es verdad, durante el abrazo me daban palmaditas en la espalda 😅. Pero estoy seguro de que yo también les parecía raro a ellos. Fue una época muy bonita, tengo buenos recuerdos ☺️ y algunos amigos 😊. About twenty years ago I met many Japanese for language exchange while studying Japanese. I laughed a lot with this video because I remember everything you are talking about. I remember how strange our encounters seemed to me at first, because we never knew how to greet each other. In the hugs they put themselves in a specific rigid position, instead of adapting to the moment, and it's true, during the hug they patted me on the back 😅. But I'm sure I seemed weird to them too. It was a very beautiful time, I have good memories ☺️ and some friends 😊.

This was such a lovely video & I laughed so hard lol. I think it's very true, too! There are different ways to express love. My husband is Japanese & I've never seen him hug his parents. His parents have never hugged me (even on the day of our wedding). But they're such kind & lovely people. They always go to so much effort & trouble for me. They often send snacks to my parents in the UK & translate all of the ingredients into English! It must take such a long time (especially as they don't speak English). People have different ways to express their love & that's what makes us beautiful/interesting (as humans) ☺️

Using words like "love" wisely is to be advised indeed, however if you really feel it in your heart while saying it, I don't see why you shouldn't. If I feel like saying "I love you", I will. No matter which culture the other person comes from. I hope the Japanese forgive me for being honest to my feelings though 😅

Words of affirmation also include, gratitude for a job well done. Acknowledgment of hard work. Or saying I'm proud of you because of:__ from everything that I've learned about Japan so far. My best guess is that the most common love language expressed in Japan is quality time, and words of affirmation.

I suggest to talk about こくはくする, I read quite a bit of Japanese manga and animation and this happens quite often in school. However in western countries , we did not really confess love in such a ' formal' way and may be its one of the follow-up topic you two can talk about. thanks again
