In the run-up to the November 2012 US Presidential Election, Simon traveled across the United States and produced a series of special edition's of "Conversation With....", a hard-hitting interview program broadcast on Channel NewsAsia, the region's leading English-language network. In the Texas Hill Country, Kinky Friedman offered his pugnacious views on America's role in the world, the state of the US nation, and his own political plans for the future. The program originally aired in November 2012.

Kinky is one of the nicest, caring, decent, truth-telling soul that is alive today. Always willing to call out the bullshit while making it fun and interesting. Truly a magnificent man!!!

I love Kinky Friedman. His songs are funny, some deeply moving, and always well done. I have some of his albums.

I like Kinky because love him or hate him he always speaks the truth and that's a hell of a lot more then many folks today. I would rather not agree with someone who is speaking the truth then getting lied to so I would believe them.. Kinky is the real deal and that is a giant shortage today in people.

Well put, sir. I agree 100%. I would rather hear from a person that I disagree with, that is being 100% true to himself and what he stands for, than to be lied to by a man who falsely claims to "agree" with every one of my own opinions and beliefs, just because he says things agree with... And I'm not saying that I "disagree" or "agree" with Kinky... only that I believe he speaks from the heart.

yes, lies do more damage than is initially apparent, there are unknowable collateral consequences in any lie. in personal, business or political life, to lie, cheat & steal can reap short term benefits or may be politically expedient, but i am reminded of that parable of Jesus comparing a man building his house on sand & the man who built his house on a rock. life will put us all to the test, &when it does, we'll find out what our foundations are built upon, ya?

Thanks for never being dull. Your heart was the same size as your home state. Too funny for the critics who were without humour. Too decent for politics. Great teller of stories. Comet of a songwriter. Man, I am going to be sad you are no longer stalking those bastards. Being independent was a better idea.

When I visited San Antonio Texas, I went to visit the Alamo, and when I asked the tour guide when we would get to see the basement (I was hoping to find my stolen bicycle there, as I was told by a Gypsy fortune-teller that it would be at the Alamo... "In... the basement!") I was laughed at, ridiculed, made fun of and verbally abused... How was I supposed to know that the Alamo did not have a basement?! That is the *LAST* time I'll *EVER* pay some weird Gypsy fortune-teller lady to find out where my stolen property is being stored!
