I love this arabic language and I want to learn it but every time I see the comments in any video lessons there are always arabic native speakers critisizing the lesson contents. For me this's quite confusing and disencouraging. In addition, there are very few online resources available compared to other language resources.

Imagine a world where all books were written in, all news was spoken in, and all fundamental English was based on Shakespearean English, and it was only used to speak in on the streets when talking in and about higher level subjects (Philosophy / Higher-level Science Fields). This is essentially the relationship between Modern Standard Arabic and Dialect. Don't discouraged. I strongly encourage you to pursue learning Arabic as a second language. The language is extraordinarily beautiful, but if you are going to learn it it is very important to know what you'd like to learn. For instance, if you would only like to learn to read, write, watch the news, and maybe some simple T.V shows, you'd want to learn primarily MSA. If you would like to be more conversational, you'll want to learn a dialect. People don't really speak Modern Standard Arabic on the streets unless they speak two different dialects and are having a hard time understanding the other person's colloquialisms/pronunciation, in which case it's just easier for them to speak in MSA. The four main levantine dialects are Palestinian and Jordanian (the closest two to MSA), as well as Syrian and Lebanese. In my personal opinion, from experience with my Syrian teachers, the Syrian dialect and accent is the easiest to get a feel for from an English speaking perspective, and there seems to be a lot of resources available from a the Syrian dialect. Lebanese has a lot of French influence, so they borrow a LOT of words from French, so if you know any romance language that'd be fun to look into as well. Just remember that the reason you may here conflicting information on how the quality of some information is in regards to general Arabic speaking is because there is not any "general arabic dialect", and the people saying the quality isn't good may just be not familiar with a certain method of expressing a certain thought, be it grammar rules or new words entirely. Cross-referencing is always a good idea, as is using online-chat rooms to practice your language. Hopefully you pursue the language, it has a lot to offer. A very, very beautiful way of thinking and culture hides behind the modern stereotypes of today.

Best way to learn IF YOU ARE SERIOUS is to find a teacher. Search for a teacher teaching Modern Standard Arabic. You cannot learn effectively unless you are engaging with a teacher LIVE whom will most likey take you through some sort of syllabus. That way you learn Vocab along with Grammer which is vital. These videos, though not bad, will not get you far.

And historically speaking, this place was Christian before people were converted to islam. I may recall you that Jesus Christ was born in Nazareth.. So it's obvious that SOME of the former residents kept their former religion wether it was christianity or judaism. I don't even get it WHY it is so a big deal for some people here. Aren't you supposed to respect every religion ? Anywho .. Shukran Maha for taking times to share your culture and language with us ! Ma'salama :)

Puffpai I disagree she's a brilliant practical teacher.I've been in formal arabic lessons full of uncaring uninspiring teachers who are obsessed with correct grammar which even native arabic speakers aren't bothered with as a result they turn all their students off and destroy their comfidence via every time u start speaking they nitpick every word .that's why so few people learn arabic.most my teachers are v poor in my experience in London of 4 teachers.maha teaches practical easy to understand arabic.best teacher

You have to make sure you pronounce it differently, "with" is pronounced "mha" so with a clear H in the word. Water is pronounced with an L "elma". So there is a clear difference between the two.

Haelu786 depends on the region, "oreed" is the formal arabic, in levant they say "biddee", in egypt they say "A'awiz", in Yemen they say "Ashtahee" and so on. too many words for 1 thing. You can use "hat" for "give" instead of "want". hat 1 falafel. hat this hat that, means bring me or give me.
