To convert a moving coil galvanometer to a voltmeter, we add a high series resistance, but why?.
The high resistance causes most of the voltage to drop across it, leaving a small voltage drop across the galvanometer.
This also ends up making the voltmeter have very high resistance. Ideal voltmeters have infinite resistance.

this is so cool. i admire your way of teaching. so different from conventional classroom teaching, you really know how to cement the idea inside a student's mind. i love how you add a storyline to each concept and make it more interesting, kudos to you ❤️❤️❤️👍🏻👍🏻

Well, I just checked the price of a new voltmeter. It'll just cost under Rs.200. So, I don't think *my friend* would be willing to spend 300 rupees to lose her old galvanometer and get a *renewed* voltmeter 😂😂 Btw, gr8 video 👍🏻

Why the resistance should be connected in series here ?
@deer001
@deer001 2 жыл бұрын
Cause if it was in parallel connection, both the resistance would share the same voltage, but we're trying to drop the voltage here,that's why it's in series.
