Jason if you go to the county water table you can see how deep you need to go for a shallow well. My property it was 12ft. So that might be a cheap way to get water out there.

I'm with Russell Watters get some self leveling concrete for the floor. A four inch grinder will get the steel cut even with the floor. For the area around the door create a french drain that moves the water away from the openings. That is putty on the glass. For the door you could get a peace of plexiglass cut to fit the opening. As for insulation you could use the 4 x 8 sheets of foam insulation. Looking forward to your journey. Also I would cut an opening on the inside of the shop and add about 4 x 10 ft to allow the dogs room and also a bathroom.

The room will work great! My take on it, insulated panels on the walls, frame in the larger opening for a doorway, and weld the other shut. The floor can be cleaned, you have a creek on the property for water. Dig a collection hole on the side of the flow, and drop a pump in it to fill a tote/ cooler/tank. The cables in the floor, cut em out with a metal blade circular saw/ Sawzall. Decorate, heat, hammocks, whatever. It's temporary right? Love ya'll ❤

I would convert the whole shop into a forever home. Yes as the money see fit. With a garage inside as well It Diffently big enough for a family. Plus u have ur sawmill for the lumber u need. Again just my thought. Then eventually paint the outside. I do believe this project is gona build ur channel up also

Honestly, with how crafty this Crocker family is, using the shop just seems too easy. Not saying that it's a bad idea, but I would personally like to see them have a basement and a nice home, since they are in tornado alley after all!

Think about getting gutters on the roof of your building, so you can collect rain water. That will help, just having the water available. for cleaning and live stock, even if it's not potable.

FYI.. A straight shaft weedeater with a carbide tipped blade is the best tool for brush cutting. Cleared almost 4 acres with one blade in very rocky soil. It will cut a tree up to 6 inches in diameter at ground level and there is no bending over!!

Old windows used to be designed to come apart and it’s easy to use those pains and Wood to re-create them, especially on the inside of the building in that room. I had one really bad window at an old House in California and we didn’t wanna replace all the windows to make them match or have one oddball and I just started deconstructing it and it really wasn’t all that hard and any glass shop can make a pane of glass to replace it. Home Depot had putty that you put back in, it was kind of like you would imagine doing it with plumbers putty and then it kind of hardens and holds the pain of glass in there, sometimes they have a little trim around them to hold it all in if there wood. But I think if you took your time you could get those panes of glass out of there and clean that up and put them back without having to buy new windows for that area. The door should be kind of the same thing. You’ve got another door on the inside it would be really easy just to build a box through the door and have an extra room in what year building, And you still got a roof because the addition would be inside the structure and protected from weather. Here there’s a ton of potential. There’s a product called Herky liner that would be perfect for going over that metal, it’s a Roll on tough rubber coating it’s made for truck beds, kind of like Lynex but it’s a roll-on and it would be perfect for that metal inside and out. You could put a tiny piece of tape over those holes and cover it with her liner and it will probably last Walmart 80 years, and for the bottom areas where the floor is starting to rust out could just cover all that area, clean it up and paint on the Herculaneum and it’s pretty much protected from water even if you pour concrete in there and just let it run up against the metal. Especially around the outside well you still have some structural integrity you can piece some tin in there and cover it with the Herculean are and you’re pretty much waterproof forever and little rocks and sticks and stuff hitting it hard even gonna come close to damaging it. There’s also a roofing coating or paint that’s made to go over old metal like that, it would be a great idea to do the roof with that but it would also work anywhere on the walls and give you some good rust protection and make a nice watertight seal anywhere that you just want to rivet in some new tin.

Perhaps you could still use the big canvas tent for an outdoor kitchen, tool storage, wood storage, etc. One or two large tarps put up over it would offer some shade as well as working around the holes you found in it.

Grain don't flow through 90deg bends. That's ether a oil tank or water and the motors and pumps were in the barn that's why the piers are in the floor to support the weight of them.

Might want to relocate generator out of the dust cloud, saves on cleaning filter. A piece of angle iron bolted to concrete and bottom of wall would fix loose wall, and silo too, dig a trench to divert water away from building. I'd explore property better, and see what else might be hiding in grass and weeds for building materials. If you come across some old drill pipe, you could build a loft in that room, a cheap welder might be a good investment, don't weld on galvanized steel, produces toxic gas. That whole building, and silo look like galvanized steel.

Jason thats glazing around your window panes. It's what keeps the glass from falling out. Try to dig out what will come out but if you get some that's hard, leave it so you won't chip your glass. What a huge blessing to have a dried in structure with walls, floor, and roof - such an awesome headstart! An oversized doorway with custom homemade door would be a bonus, especially if at any time you were to want to use it for a well house and/or solar components type room.

That wonderful stuff is window putty around the window to hold the glass in. I would replace that . You are already ahead of the game by having a usable room . I would do a loft bed to have room to fit a kitchen , sitting area , rooms for the dogs, and bathroom . I would go back to tiny house and mill up some wood . I want to say that the shop and house was used for milk cows with the silo . Since all the drains in the floors . Cog hill farms has a barn that was used for pigs with the same type drains. Regardless of which way you go , it's a life long project , Enjoy it .

Window glazing putty. L-angle to re-attach your wall studs, bolt through the studs, anchor to the floor. Sleeper floor. Rain gutters, looking at the splash marks on the exterior of the building, would help redirect rain away from the building. You could buy an length of PVC pipe and cut it in half along it's length and you'd have two rain gutters. Great start! Thanks for an excellent video! May the best of last year be the worst of this year for you both, your families, friends and loved ones!

That's glazing compound that holds the glass panes in place if you take that out the window panes will fall out. You need to get the dirt lowered out side that's why the water is getting in there it needs to slope away from the barn on all sides to stop the water from getting in and prevent any more rusting of the bottom steel.

The room is a good size and if you feel you need more room, you can cut through the back window to make it a doorway and frame up a room for a kitchen/bathroom area. Stay in the front room for living/sleeping so you can stay warm and keep an eye on the woodstove. I agree with the others, self leveling concrete may help you with the water issues. And maybe some bondo! lol Looking forward to seeing what you do. I still think you should move the shed house onto this property.

What a lovely room! 2x6 walls all around, 2x8 floor joists 7foot x 10' wide ceiling for a loft bed and storage. Treated doubled 2x6 floor boards screwed into the concrete, self leveling concrete up over the bottom 2x6, frame in a steel door to keep the gun toting jerks out and to store all your goodies. Painted plywood walls with storage shelves. 'Kitchen' area for drinking water, ice chest, microwave. Screw the metal into the top 2x6 floor board. Dig a trench, french drain and fill with gravel and back fill up the newly protected metal wall. Won't be a tent, but more protection from critters and will be water tight. I bored 2 1/2" inch pipe down from a hand built tripod and fence post digger until I got water. All the makings of a tiny paradise home away from home! Putty caulk on the windows. You could try spraying some kind of cleaner on stuff and let sit before blasting it.

Never tell what you are leaving there on air. Now they know! Get a good riding yarn mower to start with. Use the small room as you sleeping area, and add a kitchen/living area out in the rest of the shed! Use the pillars as a base for a island kitchen counter.

Hello Jason & Danielle, 🤗💕👍. I love watching Jason build things, he has some unique ideas and choices. I'm so excited to see what you two do with this property. I noticed Jason wears work gloves, but Danielle does not. So, just a suggestion, Danielle needs a good pair of work gloves so she doesn't get blisters, thorns or cuts on her hands. I'm liking the idea of a temporary place inside the building. I'm sure it will be awesome. Just curious, how far is this new property from the tiny house property?

Also she should put her hair up. Her long hair could get caught in her chainsaw.

I hope you pick the water tower. That will look amazing, a new floor. Some metal patchwork! Or just build a floor platform and pitch a tent in there

So many options for that space. Maybe even second level to sleep in. Use the 1st. level for a kitchen and living room. But like so many others suggested. Do a french drain system. To control water around that area first. Good luck God bless have fun with build. If you have a basement area or lowered area in that building.Put a sump pump in it and make a temp small storm shelter area too.Good luck.

those other chunks on the windows looks like window putty. that's what holds in the glass and is easy to work with. thats a nice size chunk of land, you can do so much with it.

Instead of replacing the broken window pains with glass replace it with plexiglass or laxan they can be cut using a cordless saw or corded saw and it will take a hard blow to break

Consider the water tower again. Put in wood sub floor on blocks, place 2x4's around the circumference of the tower inside and out, hire spray foam company to spray inside and out. This will make the structure extremely sturdy, and you won't have to worry about the bullet holes or rusted areas. You may even use some of those holes for electrical and water lines. Seems like a good and quick fix.

The dirt against the wall probably added to the rusting too. Glad you found a cheap quick solution to shelter. Can feel the excitement.

That room was my 1st thought when you said no go for canvas tent, personal opinion, I'd do pressure treated frame for sub floor and frame it in,can attach outer wall shell to framing (make super Ridgid),r30 insulate everything, leave windows until future reference, pop your stove in and go from there, love it guys.. it's cleaning up real easy. Get. R. Done son...

Stuff on windows is old window glazing that holds in the glass to the pane. It can be replaced.

Given the area yall are in I would bet that is an old oil field pump house. That's why the concrete pillars are in the main area and the wires in the floor of the room would be for the control panels. It is normal to have a large tank along with other small ones located near by! I can't wait to see what all y'all do with SHOOTDANG RANCH!
