This 1947 gray Bantam T3-C and 1949 red Willy's trailer were in need of an overhaul prior to being built up. Stay tuned for large-scale upgrades including refrigerators, lithium batteries, water tanks, kitchens, and possibly rooftop tents.

I have one I built out as a off-road trailer. It works awesome. For water I used a 15 gallon sprayer from a farm store. Already has a 12v pump mounted to it and I replaced wand with a dishwasher pre-spray nozzle like on a sink.

Thanks for watching! We put these trailers to the test over the past few weeks and are uploading the video shortly. The larger mods will have to wait as we're having too much fun with them in their current form.

Trailers look great, good work. I have had a m762 trailer( m416 with no box) m 100( like the bantam tc-3 with no tailgate) . I wanted a tailgate in the m 100 but didn’t want to cut it due to the historical value, traded it to a friend with a M38 Jeep of the same vintage, and got a CND M101 1/4 ton trailer. I am cutting the M101 for my tailgate. The reason the axles and hubs and bearings are the way they are on the bantams, the Willy’s MBT, and the M100 is because the hubs, bearings, and seals interchange with the front hubs on the Willy’s MB, ford GPW, m38, And the M38A1 jeeps for selective interchange should a hub get distorted on the Jeep in combat, and for likeness of parts in the supply system. I towed the M100 all over the panamints mountains and have stayed at the cabin you went to at the top of pleasant canyon many times. That is the world beater mine. When I lived in the high desert, my friends and I would make on an average of 10 trips a year out there. Beautiful area and the trails change every time it rains. Look forward to seeing your videos on how you outfit the trailers for off road camping.

I have 2 Bantam T3-C (trailers, circa 1946-47) One's in bad shape but the other is going to be the overland rig. You've re-inspired me. Been on the back burner as an overland project but am looking to get back to the build this spring. I have to know where you got that new axle. Size? Model number? The axle swap is needed for me to get my Jeep YJ's 5X4.5 wheel pattern so that I can carry one spare as you also indicated. Nicely done gents. Keep us posted on this fine journey!

Conrad ordered a Dexter axle and picked it up from a dealer in Longview, WA. It's a 3500 lb or D35 axle. There are many different hub options if you check the Dexter catalog for your bolt pattern you need. Axle was ordered to 57" length, which is the shortest length they offered, but it is wider than the original axle which is around 49". Fenders were extended 3" on each side to cover the tread of the tires. It may be possible to cut and weld the axle to any length but the axle is bowed so it might be a little tricky. I was able to get hubs with 6x5.5 and drums for eventual electric brakes. In an upcoming video we might show a modification to the e-brake assembly if it ends up being successful. Good luck with your project and keep us posted. Thanks for watching.

Converting a over landing trailer into an over landing trailer. LOL Aren’t you just restoring old army trailers? They are perfect for even a modern Jeep. I’m thinking of picking up one of these and doing about the same thing. I was thinking of some sort of bedliner coating for the interior and picking up the old Jeep part paint for the exterior. New axles is not a bad idea. Thanks for sharing.

Nice build. 30 gallons is over kill unless you are using it for weight ballast. 10 to 15 is all that you would need. additional water can be added with cans.

You're probably right. Space and weight capacity are both at a minimum.

Wow man, awesome job, waiting for upcoming videos of the mods you will add to them. What did you do with trailer tongue, as its short when we connect it with vehicle, we cant take shar turns as it hits the vehicle. Did you extent trailer tongue?.
@overtime4x497
@overtime4x497 2 жыл бұрын
We didn't need to modify the gray trailer since when it was paired with Nick's Samurai, the Samurai's dimensions allowed the trailer's corners to clear the Samurai by about 2 inches. This was luck, and was dependent on the narrow width of the Samurai and the long receiver drop hitch it uses. This allows the Samurai to reverse the trailer greater than 90 degrees. The red trailer did get modified when it was paired with the 4-Runner because Conrad opted to convert from the original 2" ball hitch system to a 3" pintle hitch. He needed to cut off the original tongue on his trailer, then when we welded on the new, custom bracket, we intentionally lengthened it by a few inches specifically so his trailer could turn sharply without hitting his vehicle.

I think you would’ve gotten more off road capability from the lunette ring. Plus looks way less civilized than the ball hitch you choose. 😆 your end result looks great, nice look off trail gate!

@overtime4x497 Жыл бұрын
Appreciate the nice comment. Conrad converted his to a lunette ring, and it certainly has the look! The only time the rattling annoys him is on sand where theres no tire noise to cover it up. Nick's is a civilian version of the Bantam t3, so it's "stock" to keep it as-is. It performs just fine, but maybe down the road it'll be an upgrade he'll do.

I used a 7 pin female connector, which came with a mount that I riveted to the bumper, and just started snipping and splicing the existing brake and turn signals. I chose to follow the RV pattern.

Check out the second and third to last videos. They performed flawlessly on 7,000 miles of offroading and road tripping. They're still in their mostly stock form, but we hope to mod at least one of them soon into a self-contained sleeping, cooking, fuel/water/food storage unit, and we'll certainly film the build process.

Did you guys consider putting electronic hubs on so you can control from your 7 pin? I just purchased a 1948 Willys and I decided to go with electronic hubs and added on a shock with a breakaway.

It's not a bad idea if the weight strains the vehicle. Because at full build these will be at 1000 lbs, I decided against trailer brakes for the sake of simplicity and keeping the weight down.

don't stencil the wrong with the wrong weight stats on the thing.. 1000 lbs is just under a half of ton..1000 lbs is 453.592 kg's

We were intending to show the carrying capacity, which is roughly 500 lbs. Totally possible we messed up our vernacular...

@@overtime4x497 nope they likely would of been made for use within the 500-1,500 KG range of operation to be compliant with other military weight standards I would suspect 1 side stenciled with lbs and the other stenciled with KG rating... unbraked this be within the 750-1,000 kg bracket use braked 1500 kg for a basic 6x4 trailer
