With a 400$ pump and 100$ in hose, I transfer 55 gallons of diesel in about 5-7 minutes. Sometimes it pays to get quality stuff. Two 2x6x8's work great for rolling them down and into the truck. Do it alone all the time.

I bought a cheap $100 carburettor pump to transfer gas out my boat tank it’s painfully slow! 10 mins to do 4-5 gal lol

I always remember 4 required things for the engine to start as: fuel, air, spark, compression. Lube is important, just like correct timing, but to start the engine compression would be key.

Inboard gasoline engines require planning for fuel and vapor control in case something goes wrong or a kaboom may result. Continuing to run one engine after the other springs a oil leak could have ended really badly.

If you're working on the boat through winter invest in a shelter, lighting and heat. Kyle did not look too pleased out there!

Be very careful with your vent system! I did a lot of research planning a diesel engine for my homebuilt aircraft and learned that gasoline fuel tanks and diesel fuel tanks must be vented very differently. It was a long time ago but I believe gasoline tanks must be “too rich to burn” and diesel tanks must be vented “too lean to burn”.

Inboard fuel tanks are required to be vented overboard with a flash arrestor fitting.

Please for the love of god read the ABYC requirements for installation of gas engines in a boat. Everything needs ignition protection. Blower fans to operate before you start and when you’re running. And a bunch of other stuff. Boat will not pass survey otherwise. Very different from cars. You have millions of watchers. Really enjoy your builds.

I know it is expensive but they make lifts that stack cars three high or four high. If you got two of them for the back wall it would solve your storage problem. (I know they are expensive, but it will help you guys)

Diesel is good forever as long as you clean it first. Best stored in a full tank. I have started engines with 20 year old diesel.

The amount of money spent just waiting around paying to keep the boat on the hard, you could have paid to put the proper diesels in it that are coast guard certified, will have more torque for getting on plane, use less fuel and be more reliable

Great to see you back on this project.... But off topic, Shelby's lawsuit against Denise Haliki is big news. No more frivolous lawsuits for anyone building anything even remotely similar to a Gone in 60 Seconds "Eleanor" mustang. I hope B-is-for-Build can get their car back (if it's feasible or wasn't destroyed), or start over with the goal of making a new build look exactly like an Eleanor.

Just watched a vid explaining a verdict on the matter of Halicki not having copyrights to the 'Eleanor' thing. Conclusion was that their previous sue'ings verdicts and agreements seems voided throughout due to them tricking the courts and the potential to get any ceased cars back is big, thanks to Shelby suing them and winning. I assume you cant say anything yet but if you have a chance and its not too big of a undertaking i sure hope to see it back on the channel

You can LS swap a boat. I would mind having one in my boat(1991 wellcraft 250 eclipse) A boat of 40+ feet should have diesels in it. The exception are race boats, though those tend to have three engines or extremely high performance. Those also are bare essential boats. Otherwise it would be about four plus outboards off the back. His cabin cruiser had diesels in it for a reason. I would know because I work on boats daily of this magnitude. They need a low reving high torq diesel for these applications. Those LS will be pushing hell trying to move this boat and I highly doubt it will get that boat on plane. Next issue is that those engines will like high RPM and will wear out faster then the diesels. There is no gear box like a car in a boat. You have fwd and rvs, that's it.

I still remember when they were first upgrading it and renamed it, they mentioned how it was bad luck to paint over a boats name. But he reasoned that vinyl wasnt paint so its fine.....I wonder if that is still the case.
