My 1989 BMW E30 325IX loses some weight and complication so it can drift.

boys say "i want a drift car" and spend 15k financing a used g37. Men get a rare awd car from the 80s then cut up the driveshaft to make it rwd

Just found you. Definitely subscribing. Love your videos. Converting an I-X to rear wheel drive... I hate you for this, but I definitely would have done the same thing. Don't know how many times I've gone to BMW for parts and done something f****** nuts because I didn't want to buy the correct fix. As bonus points, make sure you go to a BMW dealership, request a quote on the parts to fix it and then when it's too expensive, tell them exactly what you're going to do and watch their face as you walk out the door. Lol

You can ghetto balance a driveshaft by filling it with a little bit of oil.
@HatersGarage7 ай бұрын
I did think about that, I also considered putting bird shot in it. After some research, I saw some people saying it doesn't work that well, so I didn't try it.

Haha awesome, I love it!
@POP01Blaziken5 ай бұрын
Dude you literally had the same idea I had for my 325ix around the same time. Nobody has ever done this conversion because they think it’s too hard but it’s almost pretty straightforward, bmw left all the provisions needed to make these cars rwd. I hope you swapped the viscous diff for a welded one too. I was wondering how I was gonna remove the fwd axles, I was thinking of finding a hub and bearing with the same geometry and pressing it into the knuckle to keep everything simple but your method of cutting cheap axles might work too
@POP01Blaziken5 ай бұрын
Also I was wondering why your driveshaft came up short compared to mine, I just realized you bought an auto driveshaft, I used my spare driveshaft from my nice build that was 24v swapped, since the original ones diameter is too small, basically I’m using spare parts to make this a RWD deathkart lol
@HatersGarage5 ай бұрын
Yeah the conversion isn't too bad, just a lot of welding. Important, load bearing welding. I've cut more of the cheap axle ends off since this video, they're basically just bolts now. I actually just welded the diff today, as well as shortened the steering knuckles for more angle. That video will be up some time next month
@superSaturn774 ай бұрын
kind of genius actually. might make more reselling those stupid front shafts than the car is worth with all the rusty mess everywhere lol, and a lot more fun to be had with it too. and while i'm not necessarily up to date on any series that might have been made with this beamer, i am *very* intrigued by what i can only assume is a supercharger whine and a seemingly not-stock exhaust...
@HatersGarage4 ай бұрын
It definitely made sense to remove the front wheel drive and sell it. Also that whine you heard was just my transmission with the solid mount, lol

Nice bro! I have an e30 325ix that I want to convert to RWD as well. What did you do about the front diff and oil pan since the axles go through it

@@HatersGaragewith the death of the sedan nascar is about to lose the last connection it has to “real cars” Edit: you should trick out an AMC Eagle and use it for what it should have been doing all along: rallying. They are technically AWD with a RWD mode so you can go straight from rally to burnouts. Upgrades for them are dirt cheap because 90% of the upgrades are just XJ Cherokee parts (4.0, AX15, NP231/242, XJ D44, rear leaf springs are interchangeable) or upgrades FOR XJ’s, like big brake kits. Hell you can put a 6spd from a TJ in there if you want. Worst part about them is the weak rear axle and expensive lower ball joints. I think you could make a very fun car for around $2000
