I wonder if anyone has tried to keep them in low sodium water by replacing the much of sodium chloride with calcium chloride? I've had some success with this keeping brackish water fish in water with freshwater fishes. It is cheating a bit since the specific gravity remains high but the salt level is low. Works quite well on local fish that spawn in freshwater but the young fish live in brackish. This allows the adults to live in water fresh enough for freshwater fish as well.
