I respond to a lot of music posts on here. This one is so personal. I love it number one. Number two it was a hit in the clubs in NYC back in the day. Number three, did I mention it's personal? It brings me back to NYC in 1980 and I can remember what I was doing then, walking around The Village and Soho before they were bougie, me on qualuudes in the afternoon, going to the Garage at night dancing to this, oh wow. I want them to play this at my funeral, I have always said this. This is the best dance song ever, just listen to the arrangement

Listen to the lyrics carefully..... "this is the time and the place" "Don't you like it?" The time and the place was 1981 ...Leroy Burges was on freakin fire! It doesn't get better than this. The underground clubs were unbeleivable back in the day! I'm glad I was there.

This song reminds me to always live your best life. Roll with the gifts that God has given you whether that be a spouse, a child, a friend, a talent, a school, a job... Just embrace them and always be positive and allow that narrow road of life to open up for you. "Don't you like it? Don't you like it?" Yeah, then say "Let's do it. Let's do it. There's nothing to it. We gonna make this love get started, take this love within my heart, put my loving where you are."

He was a DJ back in the 80s. My mother was always hip and kept current on music. I grew up hearing this music being played everyday by them. I'm from a city that loved Disco and is the birthplace of House music so these kind songs were always in rotation. Also songs back then had a longer life span. Anybody who was a teenager or an adult then I'm so jealous because you all had the best generation, best parties and best music then. Leroy Burgess was the best musician, producer and composer back then!

I'm 56 and remember all these songs from back in the 80s. I remember having the 12 and 331/3 inch records and my turntable; which folks are buying today. Brought my daughter up on this music and she is 36 now. I play it for my 2 year old grandson and he just dances his little head off. I loved the 80s music and the era. There will truly never be another. They may try to duplicate but will never recreate the good old golden era of the 80s.I also liked that people had their own style unlike today where everyone looks and acts the same and all want to be famous. I get these celebrity women confused because they all look like the same person; shame on plastic surgeons.

Classic Rollerskating Jam. This is the joint where the dancers on skates get busy. I'm talking backwards, sideways, 1 leg, leg over leg, backwards holding your girls hand, you name it . We used to have super clean fun. 74 baby here, but funk carried over all into the 80s...!

This has always been my fave dance song. When I was 19 growing up in NYC, it reminds me of going to clubs in soho, like the garage, or just walking around the streets in soho during the day when I was high on quaaludes, a young gay guy trying to find my way, and I would walk around the piers in soho trying to pick uk up up truckers and not having much luck and feeling like I was a loser. but this song would always pick me up! now I'm 59, am married to a wonderful guy, and I still want this played for me me when I am on my deathbed, so I can remember I had a beautiful life, and loved great dance music! and go out shaking my scraggly ass as I lay on the bed. And I think that is a beautiful thing!

I remember it was 2018 or 2019, I was 19 and I used to be one of those KZfaq Sample Diggers, trying to find the best sample... one day this popped up in my home and from then on it was instant love. I would play this from time to time and even when I had enough of it, the melody would come to my mind while working and I would sing the lyrics. It's been a couple of months since i last played it. Glad this showed up again... "Let's do It, Let's do it... 🎶"

This is definitely a NY classic. I mean it just reeks NYC. Visiting my cousins in Brooklyn from Atlanta 11th grade summer break. Linden Plaza East New York listening to WBLS rolling joints with EZ wilder rolling papers. 🤣

Slammin' from 35 years ago (1980) disco was hitting the scene strong & hard, I heard this on WBLS NYC days of Frankie Crocker (DJ Extrodinare). This jam blew me away. Summer nights dancing at Bonds, Studio 54, Club 92, The Paladium, Chicagos, Red Parrot on the West Side of Manhattan, Paco Raban cologne, Chams de Baron shirts, Capeziio shoes, honeys with big hair, lips red or purple from lipstick, high heels smellin' good & dancing great, Girls in Spandex I know some of you are out there...this jammy brings it all back and afterwards the Diner or Franks Luncheonette on Canal st. Listening to this, closing my eyes, brings it all back....aaaahhhh yeeeaaa Peace 2 ya who remember

John923T You got all my memories, I still got my card from The Garage, remember Bonds climbing that ladder to the roof, '54 I went the first time in 1977, I was a kid working at Alexander's and they had a party there, and I kept going back after that. And WHO the hell would remember Red Parrot on West 57th Street but you and me?

+John923T you said: Girls in Spandex I know some of you are out there. ---- I was one of those spandex girls; DANSKIN GIRL IN THE HOUSE!! Deep dip in the front, back out; flowing skirt in all colors!! Yes, honey. We were sexy, we were fly and danced our butts off in our dancing outfits and high heels. It was the time of our lives, if you're in the 50 and up crew! That time can never be duplicated, but I'm so glad I milked all the fun out of it I could. Thanks for the memories. I enjoyed reading your post!!

+John923T Brother, we was in all them same places at the same exact time, perhaps we met, or maybe we didn't, we were just side by side at the bar ordering drinks, and rocking on the floor, man I remember every single place you mentioned! Thanks for bringing me back. But you forgot to mention Paradise Garage!

Wow! I can't even begin to convey all the memories that come rushing back to me, as I listen to this awesome track! The college radio stations (Emerson College's 88.9 WERS, and MIT's 88.1 WMBR) in Boston, used to play this on heavy rotation. I remember, as a little kid, with my Radio Shack-bought, Realistic brand boombox, quickly hitting the record button after the DJ would shut up, so I could record it on my Maxell UD-90 cassette. 😀 Sadly, they just don't make 'em like this anymore. 😞
