I do not own any of the footage shown in this video. All rights go to the artist(s). I operate this channel with strictly no lucrative motives.
From the 1968 Clint Eastwood film Coogan's Bluff. Saw this cool scene wasn't on KZfaq so I decided to put it there myself. I apologize for the rough quality of the audio and video.

Coogan got in that first punch. He put up a good fight. That last guy thought he could get his licks in, because he thought Coogan was out for the count. Big mistake. A man got to know his limitations.

Nice that they showed as tough as he is, when enough guys are against you, you lose. I doubt Tom Cruise would allow a scene like this for himself.

As a guy who’s boxed and studied various martial arts over the years, I concur. When heavily outnumbered, as Clint was here, you just hit the guy nearest the exit, and RUN. I did this way back when in my younger days. I was called a coward for it. I lived to fight another day, tho. And one by one over the years I ran into each guy by themselves someplace. They all wanted no part of me one on one. NOW who’s the coward?

No, Tom Cruise would rather focus on doing his own stunt like hanging from a C17 in takeoff mode, or also making over 106 HALO jumps from the same high performance plane to get the 3 shots needed for the movie. Jumping from one building to another while breaking his ankle and still run on it so they do not have to do the shot over. Hmm, should I go on about him flying the helicopter forest through the mountains. Yes I am a Clint and Tom Cruise fan boy, but you can not make less of one's career over another. Totally 2 different actors.

Tom Cruise usually plays higher roles, some kind of elite specialist such Ethan Hunt or Jack Reacher. If Clint ever decided to play a specialist he'd be invincible too. Notice how in westerns he plays characters who are gun specialist? And thus he never loses? Not even once? So why aren't you complaining now...?

Eastwood’s first film (of five) for director Don Siegel, and probably the least well known of them. Eastwood’s character, however, was the inspiration for the later TV series “McCloud” (which starred Dennis Weaver).

I like Coogan's style- Do on to others before they do you! The creep who takes Coogan's hat set himself perfectly to receive the, 'Good News' from the Big Man. This is a superbly choreographed fight scene and very realistic. Weight of numbers carries the day and the beating Coogan receives is short, sharp and brutal- they are on him like a pack of hyenas-- which is exactly what happens in such a situation. The approaching sirens saved him, then the creep tries to give him a kicking thinking he's out of it. Quality stunt work- this is an underrated film and another gem from The Big Man. Clint is a legend and a male icon. Back in the 80's, most of my school mates were avid Clint fans. One of them used to re-enact the dialogue from, 'Dirty Harry,' when Scorpio is cornered in the football stadium- "YOU TRIED TO KILL ME!" To which I would reply in finest Clint accent, "If I WANTED TO KILL YOU, YOUR HEAD WOULD BE SPLATTERED ALL OVER THIS FIELD!" We would act the scene out to the considerable amusement of our peers. Clint is a Top Bloke and he's had a phenomenal career as both actor and director.

I own and wear a dark brown Prada suit. In the 60's and well into the 70's men wore a broader range of colors in suits. One thing that sparked the move to exclusively dark blue, black and gray suits was fashion advice on TV to save money, just buy a few suits that are compatible rather than buy suits for different seasons with different colors. So, blue can match gray, black can match gray whereas earth tones are a different color set.

@@None-zc5vg I do. Brown suits look good. As I say, many men wore brown suits and green ones in the past. A lot of what looks good on a person has to do with the person's coloring. I have blue eyes and ash blond hair. So, the blue looks good on me that picks up the color in my eyes. Black looks good on me with the contrast with my blond hair. But tan and brown also look good on me. Both colors pick up my blond hair. I also dress seasonally. I wear bright and light colors in the summer, especially white to reflect the sun in the daytime. This style of dress also looks Southern and I am proud of being a Southerner.

This is a good fight scene in an under-appreciated Eastwood film. However, my favorite part of "Coogan's Bluff" has to be "The Pidgeon-Toed Orange Peel" club scene, which is basically just before the one posted here. I think that KZfaq has it - check it out if you like, you'll descend into a 1960's counter-culture cauldron (perhaps a bit overdone, but fun nonetheless), and there's a great one-liner by Clint to Albert Popwell during a tense exchange!

Clint's first collaboration with Don Siegel and more importantly the first film made by his Malpaso Production Company. Clint turned out to be one savvy film star/businessman. I think he did four more films with Don Siegel if memory serves. Movie trivia question; name the actress who in successive years was the female lead opposite the three biggest male box office stars of the 1970's, Clint Eastwood, Burt Reynolds and Robert Redford. That's a dandy film trivia question even if I do say so myself. And I do.
