One thing on my list of things to do is to cook a brisket over an open fire. Was out camping last week so I took the opportunity to do just that. It was a fun experience and it turned out great.

That looks fantastic! The brisket came out good because the meat feels your patience. If you were wound tight and impatient, the meat would be tough. I swear food feels the love you put into it.

If you want something to turn out right, you got to put in the time. I am good with sitting around having a couple of wobbly pops and watching a fire for 12 hours. Ready to do it again. Thanks. Stevo

I could hear the loons when you mention the Elvis sandwich. You must have been near the secondary pond. I am sure I camped at that exact site. Pre Mortal instincts. OH YEAH. 5:59 :-) The brisket sits under a low heat in the foil Got it. Nice coat buy the way. You looked so happy.--- congrats.

The loons where as active as I have ever seen it out there. It was a good trip. Weather was better out there than here in town. Thanks Bruce. Stevo

I always preach to people not to cook over an open flame but cook over hot coals Then I seen a guy cook a Turkey over the fire ..He kept it far enough away and had it on a spit to turn it ..It took all day but it would be fully cooked I like your fire pit and grate you have a nice set up

I have only done a turkey in my spit where you have more control but I would like to do a chicken this way. It's funny when you have a success, you want to try everything. Thanks. Stevo

Love your setup and with that grill cover you can actually bake about anything I would use the 99 dollar grill from the box stores just big enough to go thru the camper door and we cooked biscuits pizza and the best roast I ever ate it took a long time and it didn't use much fuel to do it

The main thing is, you're cooking outdoors. You talk about cooking biscuits, which is something I have to try now, I have done cinnamon rolls on the grill using a pizza stone with my lid. One thing about my system, the smoke is a little hard on the eyes. Always nice to meet else that takes camp cooking to the next level. Thanks. Stevo

that does look delicious. there is a Kingsford charcoal plant about 8 miles from me, back in the 60's I worked there for 4 days and I gave it up, there is also Royal Oak charcoal plant in the same area, they don't do briquettes , they do lump coal.
@stevoj8959
@stevoj8959 Жыл бұрын
That is cool that you worked at that plant. I had both those brands there and I found that the Kingsford burned a little hotter and would be my choice. Thanks. Stevo

@@stevoj8959 just for the heck of it, would you look on the bag and see if it was made in Belle, MO or maybe KY. I don't know how many places they have plants.

@@MissouriOldTimer I looked this morning and Oakland CA was the only place mentioned on the bag.

@@stevoj8959 I think they had plants all over I was told that KY. was the start of it all, Henry Ford had something to do with it, because of the scrap wood they used in the old ford cars.

I found out recently that "Briquettes" have "coal dust" pressed into them. That kind of turned me off to cooking with them.

Interesting. If you burn them down until they are white they should be safe. I will look into that as well. Thanks. Stevo

Kingsford is made with Borax (same stuff you clean your toilets with) along with other chemicals. Stick to lump or a quality briquette with all natural ingredients. Kingsford is owed by Clorox.
