In the past, there was a tandoor oven in every house and people used to make their own bread. Although not much in cities, tandoor ovens are still widely used in villages.
What is a tandoor?
Tandoori is a type of barbecue used for heating. A special oven made by digging a hole in the ground is also called a tandoor. In the past, in places where the winter was cold, a brazier was placed under a low square table and covered with a cotton cloth so that it would completely cover it and not be damaged by fire.
We can also say that it is a kind of small oven made by digging a hole in the ground.
From time to time, we go to the villages to fill the spring waters flowing from the mountains on the shores of the city of Konya. When we come across villagers who make tandoori during these travels, we buy tandoori bread and pastry from them. In this video, you will watch what we experienced on one of those trips.
