A little follow-up for everyone: someone from 1st Playable Productions released a statement. The game was released by Planet Entertainment without Office Create’s permission. Office Create is the IP holder and said the game needed some more time to be polished a bit before release. Planet Entertainment and Office Create are in a legal battle now. Office Create had Nintendo remove the game from the eShop as soon as they found out and halted production of cartridges. As far as the Nintendo Switch console problems go, the game apparently runs on the Unity engine which is evidently causing them to overheat. The developer who came forward also mentioned that the blockchain mechanics never actually made it into the game, and Planet Entertainment just hyped their company up with buzzwords to attract investors.

i heard some legal issues are also in play, like the fact that the owner of the cooking mama IP told the devs to make several changes to the game and the devs refused to, so now the IP owner is pursuing legal action and that's why it was taken down o.o

I just got my physical copy. The weird think is that on the back it says "2019". The European version says "2020". So did they make a typo in the states? Probably

I feel like they have made this so confusing because they were trying to compete with the large Animal crossing New horizons title. Now the company's are coming out with fake news as to why it was pulled simply because it was flopping. This is just my theory. I found this game at my local target 3 weeks ago for $20. Been playing it ever since and didn’t realize it was so rare/halted/had issues.

The whole vibe of this game is very disappointing. It doesn't feel like Cooking Mama at all, it's yet another example of companies trying (and usually failing) to appeal to younger Gen Z with "trendy" items (in this case foods such as galaxy milkshakes and rainbow grilled cheese) and social media etc. when in reality it would probably be best for them to stick to their original audience and keep the same charm the game used to have. This is such a cheap, tacky, distasteful version of a game that is quite cherished by many people. I mean, Cooking Mama never had much substance, but it definitely had a charm to it, and this new version lacks it. I was going to buy it since I loved Cooking Mama for the DS a lot as a kid, but even if this one was easier to find I don't think I'd bother. I obviously don't know for sure, but this definitely doesn't seem like a Nintendo problem.

i remember a few weeks ago i was on instagram and got an ad for this game. it was posted by the actual nintendo instagram account, but then it was soon deleted and i hadn't heard anything new about it until this video

My working theory is the game was put into stress moment due to leaks. The game may have not of been completed and thus pulled back too be finished

the fact it was released at a similar time as animal crossing is kind of shady to me ngl. like animal crossing just overshadowed it

Personally I got Physical version of this game back when it had just Released. It wasn't until several months later that I showed my Switch collection on a group chat that someone was extremely surprised that I had Cooking Mama Cookstar. I got lucky by getting a Physical copy and never realized that there was an issue until a little later on. I've been playing the Cooking Mama Series since Cooking Mama 4 and I'd say that this is my 2nd favorite Cooking Mama game. My favorite would still be Sweet Shop on the 3Ds. The entire idea of owning your own shop were you sell the food that you make, then have Chibis come in and buy them is still my favorite in the series.

2:36 just letting you know the Dualshock 4 has motion controls. It uses a gyroscope+accelerometer combo for motion processing, instead of an IR camera, which is what the Switch uses. Think of the PS4 system keyboard. You can use the controller as like a motion controlled mouse.

The publisher is actually deep silver and the developer is planet entertainment. Koch Media which is owned by THQ Nordic owns Deep Silver. The game is all under THQ Nordic. Also the game actually released early if you go on Koch media site you can see it comes out April 28th

I went to a target just to browse and they had some copies. I got one for $30 and started playing it. Played it for about 30 mins but didn’t experience any overheating. I usually wouldn’t get something like this but I’m enjoying it.

I was looking on gamefly, because I thought I had saw this game a few weeks ago, and there it was. Listed with a release date of April 13th and made by Planet Entertainment. It was also listed with a " Also On Playstation " tab. When I clicked on the playstation tab, it said coming December 31st 2020 and the scores all say "TBA". All of the screenshots and the description are exactly the same as the switch version. I have never seen this game on Amazon or any other retail website, only on the gamefly website.
