Oxtails are segments of a cows tail popular in South America, West Africa, China, Spain, Korea and Indonesia. It is also famously served in Jamaican and Caribbean dishes and are usually one of my favorite things to order from these restaurants. Here I wanted to use a contemporary cooking method called sous vide -- where you cook something in a bag submerged in water at a very precise temperature for an extended period of time -- to create a super tasty and tender oxtail, made in a simple Japanese curry.
Don't have a Vacuum sealer? Zwilling sells a kit called the fresh and save system, that makes spus vide easy to do at home.

While I was in NYC, I had the most amazing oxtail. It was Oxtail and braised daikon. It was a very simple brother but the two played so well with each other and I can't find a recipe for it anywhere. I love oxtail sooo much!

Oxtail used to be cheap in the UK and then it became popular with TV chefs etc. Now they are pricey again. Love a Oxtail stew.

If you want something more refreshing and light vietnamese oxtail pho is fantastic! Instead of the deeply comforting curry oxtail, and the bold and sumptuous caribbean oxtail, vietnamese oxtail pho is really refreshing, the broth is almost good enough to just drink lol

This was a very educational and informative video. Loved it! I was thinking about cooking oxtails in the ovens on low for 24 hours in a red creole étouffée gravy. Now I'm inspired 😂 Thank you 😂❤

yeah the cost of liver,heart,neckbones,tongue and oxtail have all jumped up in price near me idk if its just inflation or if because of inflation people are more intersted in less popular cuts that pushed up the price

Keep trying for vegan ! ❤❤❤We get over the food addiction to indo opiates and ?!# we can make it to 100% healthy vegan and be healthier and happier. Mortals have been eating of the tree of knowledge of Good and evil , (1 st Genesis, Essene Gospels of Peace, Christ gnosis texts Nag Hammadi , Yamas, Ahimsa )which is all the animals and persons in this world and of their bodies it's such a sad deception that mankind's in right now . I always feared/revered living God not enough to not eat ox for some scripture say to kill an ox is as to kill a man.

Ugh, its abhorrent how expensive oxtail is now, my mom used to practically get them for free at the grocery store since nobody else asked for it. Now its like the price of low end steak. Insane

I love the flavor of oxtail. I’ve only eaten them prepared in the Eastern European way, in a tomato base with potatoes and peas. I’ll have to try your recipe, because it looks very delicious. Off subject, but have you ever used Kimono-mom umami sauce. She has a KZfaq channel and website where her sauces and cookware can be purchased. I’m curious to hear a review on her sauce and if it’s worth the price to purchase it. Thank you❤

Growing up my mom use to say "don't nobody want to eat something thats been fanning ass all day" 😂 so we never ate them As an adult, i think theyre so good!! Almost similar to goat meat the gamey taste is good too

After learning to love the screaming flavors of Thai curry I’ve found Japanese curry disappointing, like curried turkey gravy. How does sous vide compare to slow cooker?

I’m also a fan of all the Thai curries but think of Japanese curry as a vessel for meats and things like fried pork cutlets where as the Thai curries themselves are the star. Best with smaller bites of meat and or many vegetables.

I had to try a few to find a good one. Make sure you don't get one labeled "mild". That one was very bland.

Define ethical? Halal butchers have pretty strict guidelines that deal with how the animal is to be killed and making sure the animal is not in fear is one of those rules.
