As an Asian who just came from her home economics class, I can confirm this is definitely Asian pasta. We basically had the exact same recipe but without the chili and we added a bit of ham but otherwise it was completely identical lol And yes, I'm younger than her pickle brine.

The flavor that rice pasta picks up from whatever it’s paired with is lovely!!! I love cooking with all different types of rice pasta that I get at the Asian market. This looks delicious!!!

It’s about 2 in the morning and I haven’t been able to sleep due to an anxiety attack that’s left me unable to sit still. It feels like I’m suffocating, basically and all the walls are closing in. In Indonesia, those "very asian rice pasta" looks quite similar to locupan (originally from China, but added an Indonesian twist), a type of rice pasta that is also very asian. It is usually served with a chicken broth soup, with some toppings like red pork (idk what those are called, we call them cu nyuk merah) and "otak otak" which is basically a fish roll of some sort.
