Thank you so very much!!! My son's and I get A LOT of cans of chickpeas, but are limited any ways to use them. Mostly because of their texture. I do sub them for about half of the beans that I use, when making my homemade refried beans for bean and cheese burritos, because they blend well and are very neutral tasting. Sometimes I will roast them in the oven, with a little coconut oil and sea salt until crisp, for a snack for the boys. But thats about all I know for them. I am a coffee drinker, but was told long ago to cut back or stop, because of heart issues. These canned ones are much smaller and softer then the fresh ones that you used in the video. Plus they are canned with salt and preservatives. So I'll rinse them well, and as you said, I'll roast them in the oven, at 360°F, in a very large 18" cast iron pan, stirring every 10 minutes. When I roasted them for snacks, it took 20 to 25 minutes to make them crisp and lightly golden when they were coated with coconut oil. So, to get them dark enough for coffee, while dry roasting, it should take 30 to 40 minutes. I used to use roasted dandelion and chicory root in place of half of my coffee grounds when I brew, because I liked the flavor a lot. Plus neither have any caffeine and they are both very good for the liver and kidneys. But they have both become more expensive than regular coffee now. Being a single, disabled father, of two challenged young men, and on a very limited budget, with the way things have been, I had no choice but to give up many healthy things. And now I'm paying the price. I just hope my sons don't have to.

This recipe was super cool.. i toasted for a bit more than 30 mins...not exactly like coffee but very similar tasty drink... I have tried only one recipe ..hot coffee.. boiled this powder for long time in milk..... And taste better and lighter if properly strained

Okay.. I was doubtful about the taste by seeing the video. I made it this powder today and made coffee just now. It's fine.. it looks like coffee and more or less tastes like it.. I gave it to my dad without telling him and he couldn't even guess that's no coffee in it.. it does taste a little bit different than normal but it's really good replacement for stimulating coffee. Thanks Yaman for detailed recipe.
