tl;dr - cold tires didn't nearly cause that high side. The cop was talking to them at the top, at Neels Gap, in the parking lot of the Mountain Crossings store. US19 going down is almost exclusively single lane, and most of the footage is the double lane on the southern side of the pass. Also, the rock face would be on their left if they were descending, rather than on your right. (The other side isn't as interesting, but Wolf Pen Gap Rd. is cool, if you have excellent low-speed handling skills.) So they went down from the top, and then started filming again from the bottom. Honestly, going down isn't as much fun; single lane means that you can't pass. The Appalachian Trail crosses US19 right there; you can see the signs warning about pedestrians just before they pull into the lot. That stretch of US19 is about 30 minutes away from me; I'm moderately familiar with it. I may have passed them coming up on Sunday while I was heading down; I thought I saw someone with a knee down in a corner on a grey bike, in a group about that size.

He lost traction and corrected to compensate and then the tires gained grip back. Could have definitely been cold tires

@@joshuakelley2345 Lol What? No... He lost the ass end because his tires were too cold and so was the surface for the amount of throttle he was giving it. He didn't save it, the electronics did. If it weren't for them, his bike would be at the bottom of the mountain.

@@ItsDuct Also, he's throttling up while he's still dropping into the lean. He's anticipating coming out of the corner and getting on the throttle a touch early. Electronics definitely did save the rear wheel from spinning up and sliding all the way out.

@@MyscBigdrop overly aggressive/excessive throttle and momentary loss of grip on the rear tire...can spit you off when the tire hooks up again, even with electronics. The way to prevent it is to ride inside the limits of traction and perhaps more importantly, smooth inputs. To be fair, no one should be riding as near to their limits as these guys are on a public roadway.

They are working hard, it takes skill to stay in 1 lane to better yourself as a rider. Max cuts up every lane on every ride. That's how you become the "fastest" rider.
