Love the live text box! Quick question, after you type into the 'live text box' during your presentation...is there an easy way to get all of the text out of it in the normal view...or do you have to run the slide in slide show mode and then copy and paste it?
@powerpointspice
@powerpointspice 8 жыл бұрын
+PowerPoint for Business Professionals Great question! (and don't know why this was flagged as spam!) - I don't think there's a way to do it other than going to presentation mode and copying/pasting, as you said. The other trickier way is PDFing and then copying/pasting the text - at least you don't have to be in presentation mode for that. Hope that helps - thanks again, and nice channel you got there ;).

As always, you never fail to amaze me again with your mastery of PowerPoint. There are FAR TOO MANY videos out there that show you how to "use" PowerPoint, but most all of them only show what the new features are, and how to do the basic functions with those new features (useless!). Your videos, however, show awesome creative ways to use those new features, as well as older features, to create interesting and exciting presentations. Damn, I wished I could hire you!
@powerpointspice

+Charles Campbell Hi Charles - really appreciate the comment, and I'm glad you see my focus on application, as that's indeed a major issue for me! It's not enough to just show features - it's critical to show the creative application (and combination) of those features in new and interesting ways that can really bring a presentation to life. Thanks so much for the comment, and for continuing to watch my videos!

Glen AllisonThanks for this - I have been using PowerPoint for a very long time and I know that the students I'm presenting to, sometimes gets bored even when they are interested in the subject area. They may, for example have seen two or three presentations before coming to mine, so anything to add some 'difference' is greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Glen, for the comment! That's exactly what my channel is all about - to help you stand out and engage your audience. Oftentimes, presenters put so little effort in engaging the audience with slides that any little thing you can do to add a little spice will be very memorable and keep their attention.

I've changed equipment over the years, but I currently just use my iphone for filming and a lapel microphone (that plugs into your iphone - you can get them for like 20 bucks on Amazon) - and also Camtasia for screen recording / video editing (I used to use Camstudio and windows movie maker, which are free). and of course... PPT! Hope that helps, and good luck with your videos!

You can use any of these techniques for that subject as well - for example, polling your students about the right answer or presenting the data with some cool animations. It is very good work. It would be great if Poll _ everywhere is one time download and interactions take place through bluetooth, without need to go through cloud interaction which depends on Internet connection.
@powerpointspice
@powerpointspice 8 жыл бұрын
+Ahmed Shams You can actually achieve a similar effect with the "clickers" that I discuss in the video. While most are pretty basic in what you can input, they don't need internet. The other (not ideal) way is to still use poll everywhere but get the results on your smartphone and just announce the results to your audience - you won't get that "wow" effect of the poll on the screen but you can still elicit their opinion (especially good in a large room where counting hands is impractical). Hope that helps, and thanks for checking out the video!

Thanks, Bronwyn! Which technique are you referring to? Are you talking about PowerPoint online ? If so I haven't tested any of them in PowerPoint online yet but could try if you give me specifics.
@BronwynWilson
@BronwynWilson 8 жыл бұрын
Sorry I wasn't more clear. I was referring to the live text boxes which won't work in powerpoint online because there is no access to the developer tab in the online version. It would be great to have that level of functionality with live text boxes when sharing online versions of powerpoint.
@powerpointspice
@powerpointspice 8 жыл бұрын
+Bronwyn Wilson Yes, agreed! I'm honestly not a huge fan of PPT Online because it's usually super slow and has limited functionality. In fact, one time I was working on a presentation with people from Microsoft (for my regular work - not related to my PPT stuff) - and we started using PPT online to collaborate, then gave it up and just did it the old fashioned way - through sending attachments back and forth.

Amaaaazing , you're genius :D :D Can I ask from where can I get cartoon character with different reactions & movements like those in this video ?
@powerpointspice
@powerpointspice 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Marwa! I got them from Freepik.com (my favorite vector site). You can search for "businessman" to get those pics. YOu can then download the vector (EPS) files and convert to EMF with a free service like Cloudconvert to use in PowerPoint. EPS support has sadly been discontinued by PPT for now. For the reactions / movements, I just made those with different animations in PowerPoint.

Hmmm not sure why you're having issues logging in. Since I'm not the site administrator, it's tough for me to help with that. But I guess another option you can try is videoblocks - they have a free trial after which you can keep anything you download.

Hi there - yes, you do. You need to make sure that computer has it or it won't work (otherwise, you can also do it on your phone, but that's not as impactful).

Hi PPS I came across a problem when I presented using PPT and the interactive text boxes and HDMI connected monitor. For some reason the effect did not work when connected to HDMI. Any ideas why that would be the case?
@powerpointspice
@powerpointspice 6 жыл бұрын
I suspect it’s not the hdmi as that seems odd to be related. Were you using this in presenter view (black screen where you can see the next slide and notes)? If so it will not work in that view (you need a duplicate view where you just see the current slide).

Nice video. I would caution you about having the audience using their phones for polling. This is when you lose their attention, as they start using their device to check email and surfing the web instead of giving you undivided attention. Audience response keypads go a long way in preventing device distraction.
@powerpointspice
@powerpointspice 6 жыл бұрын
Yes, there are advantages and disadvantages for sure. During business meetings / conferences, people usually have their phones out anyway to some extent, but the keypads are very good as well if you know how many you'll have in advance and can carry them to the location (or teach in a classroom so don't need to carry them).

Is there any time limit to use poll version. Or i can use it for good?
@powerpointspice
@powerpointspice 7 жыл бұрын
There isn't really a time limit but the free version has some constraints like the number of responses it will take, etc. I suggest you check out their comparison chart to see what version would work best for you. The paid versions are monthly subscriptions, I believe, so that would be the time constraint for those.

Around the 18:00 mark you say you can't edit the text boxes in slide mode. That's not true. If you right click on the text box and then select "TextBox Object" and then Edit you can edit your text without going back into presentation mode. At least that's the case in Office 2016.

+Olga Vareli Hi Olga - wonderful to hear from you again! Yes, that does make polling a challenge in classrooms with such restrictions. However, what might work for you is the more old fashioned clicker or "student response" systems (which I referred to in the video as well) - they can be expensive (some are almost a thousand dollars) but there are ways to get them cheaper (simple systems, used condition, buying on ebay, etc.). You can just pass those out to your students, have them use them for class, then collect them again. Hope that helps!

+scroobgames You'd have to do that on one slide. If you want more advanced effects, you might want to try Articulate Storyline 2, as it has many more features than PPT (though is pretty expensive :/).
