As always Scott, wonderful informative video. One additional thing that I do is cut off the cooking instructions before re-cycling all the outer packaging. Write what the item is on the cut out, if not obvious and keep in a drawer.

We love our Costco and the added plus of having the cheapest gasoline in Nothern CA. We own a 2023 Travato 59G model and don't use the microwave so it becomes another storage for dry goods.

We have a 17 foot travel van. For vacations, not FT. 2 adults, 2 big dogs, 2 guitars can make it pretty tight. A few times a travel season and at the end of the season, I re-evaluate what we are actually using. Some items I was sure we needed, weren’t used, so out they go. Turn things on their side, almost always remove packaging, and, yes, the perfect container to optimize space. Also, think out of the box. I turned a clothes closet into a pantry by removing the clothes rod and installing a set of plastic drawers. Thanks for the video!

I gave up my Costco membership years ago, but you have given me 3 really great ideas... it was great to see how you keep your cabinet organized by finding the right containers and then refilling them-- love that idea. Secondly, I can see that maybe one day I could actually go back to having a Costco membership. Finally, when you watch vans for sale they are empty. It's nice to see the cabinets in use so I get a better idea of how the space can get used.

I don’t shop at Costco. (Used to years ago) I live alone so the quantities are crazy big for my purposes. I am a vegan so the meat dept holds no value for me and I can’t use a flat of strawberries or a case of lettuce!! Also, I don’t drink alcohol or use otc medications. My stores are sprouts, frys/Kroger’s and natural grocers for the staples I enjoy. 😊 thanks for the great video Scott. As of today 10-30-21, I’m still waiting for my van. ☮️💜

My tip is to save your money and don’t buy a Costco membership. I’ve saved so much money over the last 20 years since we dropped our Costco because I don’t do any of that impulse buying anymore. “Oh, look, a package of 100 bungees! What a deal!!“ and the only hard liquor I drink is the occasional gin and tonic in a restaurant. Our alcohol for the road is red wine. And I’ve taken to buying boxes of Black Box Cabernet from Chile - or Barefoot Cab if I can’t find that. They tend to run anywhere from $24 to $18 and are the equivalent of four bottles of wine. Boxes are sooooo much easier. Nothing to break or fall over, we transport them on their back with the spout up. O muss, no fuss. But I agree with decanting things and just sizes that work well. One van traveler takes everything out of rigid boxes and puts them in plastic bags, but I can’t find anything that way. How do I to be able to see it glance But we camp, we don’t full-time, so we have a different approach, different needs. If I were full-timing, I would probably try to re-create a liquor cabinet, too! Beef - I occasionally buy some for Jerry, but all I have is fish & chicken. And what I throw in my freezer for hamburger is MorningStar Veggie Griller crumbles. No mess cooking greasy burger, I haven’t bought hamburger for a decade.

I use ziplock bags for everything. Every container you use takes space,so if you have a small container to fill up from a larger one you then have two containers
@janetfolkerts58272 жыл бұрын
True, you have two, but the larger one goes where you arent conveniently accessing it daily, and the smaller one is. You have saved money and convenience with items/foods that you want easily accessible. There are places like under his bed that is used for longer term storage.

Excellent video. Good for home use too! Amazing how much more space you get when you take some of this stuff out of the store packaging. I did get a little concerned when i saw you start in with the instant coffee. I thought we had broken that habit. You did an excellent pivot with the iced coffee thing. Scott, you do a great job of making the Travato a home. Do you have problems parking in cities in regard to length restrictions or security guards. Just read another van post where even after spending over $100 at a Safeway they were asked to leave the parking lot after a couple hours. They were in a new Revel so it wasn't an appearance issue.

Thank you so much for your informative videos. I have recently retired and am looking to make the jump to full time Rving.. I have always enjoyed camping. Growing up as a kid my folks instilled in us a sense of living off the grid while camping and just seeing the country. Hi Scott, I really enjoy your information and sharing. I am not a camper yet and am considering a Travato because you seem to be so happy with it. If you had to buy new today, would you purchase the same platform? Hopefully you got to see my 2.0 minute response to your question on this week’s What’s Up Wednesday?! Bottomline is I’d buy another Travato GL again, just not the current floorplan. It no longer meets my needs. So I keep my Travato GL. I recommend serious Van buyers to look at the Travato offerings
