This video is about cooling system fill up on liquid cooled BMW motorcycles. The process required for all 2006 and later liquid cooled bikes. It is recommended to use this process for earlier BMW K-bikes as well.

Golf tees make good plugs for small hoses and do less damage to the hose than does a clamp.

Great video. The airlift is also a quality tool. The one from China has some REAL PROBLEMS. At the end be sure to fill the radiator and the overflow / reservoir tank to the level indicated on the tank.

Great presentation and quite informative. I just happened upon this video, and man am I glad I did. I just bought a "wrecked" 2006 K1200GT and when I fired it up, it was spewing coolant out the belly pan. I've stripped the fairings and found the leak (I hope!) and I was just going to "top it up", well I guess I'll be investing in a vacuum tool now won't I?! Thanks for your insights.

no vacuum device needed. Everything is simply poured from above.

Just to clarify? You had drained and filled the system a short time ago (to do a valve adjustment?). The procedure in this video is ALSO required to fill the capacity of the system and to remove air? And, the system was drained of coolant before the video started? Priming that fill tube, without any air pockets!, looks like it could be difficult. You didn't show. Great information and thank you for including so much (shifting camera, and being patient).

Great vid, thanks. Question: you say, "don't use green coolant", ie Prestone for example. So my research says Prestone has no nitrites, and is an OAT. Other than costing 2x what am I getting with BMW coolant?

This procedure is not required for my 2007 K1200LT. Are you talking only for BMWs that were designed in 2006 and later?

It's 110 degrees normally here in Arizona and during my ride the fan is usually running ..... On the temperature gauge it remains at exactly 1/2 of the gauge is that normal operating temperature on a 2007 K1200GT ?

Nice tutorial! Excelent tool. I have followed the procedure from my service manual on bmw r1200rs 2016 (no bleeding nipples thou), everything works really well, i get the required -0.8 bar of vacuum that holds in the system, however one thing i dont understand is why i cant get nowhere near the required capacity of coolant (1,5l) i think it fills to the top of radiator after drawing less than 1l..? (I do drain the system) Did it happen to anyone else?
@iminim38834 жыл бұрын
Yes. So everyone. No vacuum is needed. These are the gimmicks of the official stations. You can simply fill it from above. The same amount will be included - 0.8-1 liter. Then warming up. And only after opening the thermostat will you add another 0.5L to the second radiator. It's a BMW. Everything is strange here.

Where did you get the tool from and what flow was it on the compressor

If you call up and ask bmw dealer, they won't have any clue about this. If they did, they were not willing to tell me.

Then they are idiots because the procedure is detailed in the service manual
