For anyone wondering about the stats. We polled a bunch of retail and etailer contacts and over the last 5 years the Hyper 212 series (but nostly the EVO) have outsold the closest competitor by a minimum 4:1 ratio and most of the time its closer to 7:1. Absolutely incredible. :O

I have a Hyper 212 Evo and Hyper 212 BE in my collection (for overclocking runs and various display/test builds) and I agree, the installation was a PITA but well worth the effort. I added a second fan to my 212 Evo and that helped substantially when clocking but even still, there is only so much a 4-heatpipe cooler can do. Cheers!

I've only had one AIO ever fail and that was caused by the faulty PSU. Killed more than just the AIO. Still use AIO's and have no anxiety at all. But they don't cost $30 to $40 either. If an AIO is that cheap, yeah I'd worry constantly. ; )

My older PC still rocks this exact cooler (i5 2500 stock frequency) and it's crazy to see the very good temperatures. For the new build I'm working on (R5 5600X) I really considered the updated RGB or black versions, but the Arctic Liquid Freezer II 240mm AIO was very decently priced, that convinced me to go AIO watercooling. I'm using a CM Blizzard T2 and was wondering if I should stick with the T2 for my next build or fork over for the Hyper212

I have Hyper 212 LED Turbo (with red led) cooling down my Ryzen 5 1600, really great performer for its price. But this specific edition of Hyper 212 comes with a catch. This cooler can only mounted horizontally with its stock am4 mounting kit (clip type) and in this orientation, my cooler can't exhaust the heat to outside the case as I use older style case with top mounted PSU and no top ventilation. so, in order to mount the cooler vertically, I made custom mounting bracket based off the included am3 mounting bracket from steel plate, but slightly longer to fit am4 mounting point and use the stock am4 back plate that comes with the motherboard+some plastic spacers and surprisingly it works.

As much as I love 212 and its different editions. I started to love more (like more more) expensive 212 cousins from BeQuiet. Damn I'm in love with Dark Rock and Dark Rock Pro.

I'm using the Dark Rock 2 with my 5800x and it's pretty good. Maxes out at about 80° after 10 mins of a simulated 100% load and settles in the mid-60's when gaming. Decently quiet too. I will say though that installation was a bitch.

I think the 212 would be the perfect cooler to test out different fans with. Replace the fans or try out push pull with a pair of noctua redux, that sort of thing. To see what sort of fans work best and if push/pull is worth it. As well as seeing if the 212 is upgradable.

great video Mike - if there was such a thing as a PC parts price to performance Hall of Fame this would be in it! For me, other recommendations for this fictional list are the i7-2600k and the GTX1080ti

I personally have the Hyper 212 EVO V2 myself, and I absolutely love it! Edit: I also have my cooler installed in a push-pull config with two Sickle Flow fans.

I have one from 2012, going strong even now on a Ryzen 3600. One of the best cooling ever made.

Good thing I watched this before I bought one, I didn’t know you had to get to the other side of the board to install the mounting plate, I’m not that confident to do it at right now

The crazy thing about this cooler is that the Evo is already an iteration itself, even back in the C2D/Q days the original Hyper 212 was showing up the other coolers. This thing was around long before we sang the praises of the likes of Noctua and Scythe and BeQuiet back when Arctic was still sitting at the top of the pile except for that one really chunky tower either Thermaltake or Thermalright made. It has outlasted multiple CPU generations and sockets. This thing has been around longer than some of the people reading this comment and yet it remains viable after tiny iterations generation after generation.

Wait so are you comparing the u12s redux or normal because you show a picture of the redux but dont state it in the benchmarks. But still nice review I kinda wanna see a roundup of decent sub 50 dollar coolers.

Running a 212 Evo with a Noctua fan swapped on my Ryzen 5800X. I didn't like the ramping up noise level of the stock fan so I put a much quieter Noctua fan on there even though it actually raised my temps by 2-3 degrees! It still runs cool enough and holds good turbo speeds on all core rendering loads yet is now whisper quiet. Still recommend the 212 though for most people it's fine I just wanted my PC to be as quiet as possible and am extra picky with noise.

I spent $20 on an adapter for a 3600 AM4 socket. It forces you to align the cooler airflow vertically in the case rather than from front to back. I ended up spending $100 on a Noctua instead. On my older AM3+ system, the EVO 212 did a fantastic job and as mentioned in the video, the price is right.

I wonder how it stacks up to the Deep Cool GAMMAXX 400S and ID-COOLING SE-224-XT as they seem to be the same or cheaper than the Cooler Master cooler.

Got the RGB Black for my first build and it had the plastic clip (same one as the V2). The backplate (also plastic) was way easier to install (although still a challenge for a first time) Had it on sale for the same price as the regular 212 evo
