Thanks for the extra insight of the fan additions and high wattage CPU with the big GPU as well. While not necessarily indicative of what everyone has it does show worst scenario for thermals which makes it a lot easier to know what to expect with this case.

Don't forget the PCIE 4.0 cable in the price consideration 😉 those'll set you back 50-60 bucks, and the NR200P includes only 3.0 while the Max includes a 4.0. Which may or may not be important to users, but at least is the difference between having to get into the bios before using that cable and not having to IF you have only a PCIE 4.0 gpu.
@gencoserpen1260
@gencoserpen1260 2 жыл бұрын
The NR200P doesn't actually allow top mounted 280mm radiators so there are more things to consider than riser cables. If you install a GPU vertically your only option is to install the radiator at the bottom which is a big no-no for AIOs as that will reduce the life span of the pump and create noise. I think because of that most people who buy the NR200P will install the GPU horizontally at the bottom (better for airflow anyway) and the radiator will be mounted on the side with a grilled mesh (no acrylic window). I just wish the regular NR200P had the same design as the MAX because I don't like the gunmetal color.

Wait...i thought riser cable "just" a cable ? What makes it different ?
@temporaltomato3021
@temporaltomato3021 2 жыл бұрын
@@adeguntoro If you have a motherboard and gpu that both run at pcie 4 by default and you connect them via a pcie 3 riser cable, you will not get any video out. You'll at least need a cpu with on-board graphics or a pcie 3 gpu to get into your bios and switch the motherboard to pcie 3 mode, then you can run the original hardware config. Or just make sure you have a pcie 4 riser cable. Maybe there are motherboards out there that can switch to 3.0 on their own in this situation, but I'm not aware of any.

Many thanks for the useful review, because of your video I opted for the 12700K which I think was the best decision to minimize the CPU heat while not compromising the performance. My build is of course NR200P Max, 12700K, MSI Z690I Unify, MSI 3080 Trio Z, 2TB Samsung 980 Pro, G Skill 2x16 CL36 5600MHz, and two Noctua (NF-A12x15 + Noctua NF-A12x25). I settled for TG option to display the GPU and temp difference is less than 5 degrees C but definitely acceptable below 75 max while gaming. Thanks again and keep it up.

fun fact, the panels can all be exchanged with the panels of a different colored nr200, if you are upgrading your case to this one from one of the others. Gear Seekers did a review of this case a few months ago and confirmed by taking them all off of the grey ones, and replaced them all with panels from a white one and even mixed and matched a couple panels.

12900k is a hot CPU. I loved mini ITX builds in the past, but nowadays with CPUs like this coming out its not very practical to cram them into a small case. I also have a 280mm AIO but it is the Arctic Liquid Freezer II. I get mid 80s for temps on Cinebench testing, which is great. 12900k you can also undervolt the CPU from around 0.020 - 0.050 volts, and that can drop temps additional 10-15C without sacrificing too much performance if any.

Well be honest with yourself. Do you really even need that processor if you’re only going to use it for gaming? Majority don’t need a chip that powerful if you aren’t using it for work and other areas besides gaming. Most aren’t a pro gamers, aren’t professional video editors, and yadayada. It’s like having a car, you don’t need a sports car to get you to your destination.

@@GenesisXtr3me whether i need a 12900k or not is a completely different topic. The 12900k/13900k or 14900k is too hot for small itx build. That was the point of my comment. but to answer your question, i do use it for work for 3d modeling and don't even game. In fact, this pc has 13900k and is used exclusively for work other than some web browsing. I upgrade every year and the cost will pay itself back within a month or two with the increased productivity

Sweet build Nada 👍🥰🤯. I agree a 12700k is a much better option for this case! As an owner of the OG NR200. I: running custom water cooling w/ a R9-5900X & 3080Ti and the setup runs nice n cool under heavy load 🥰🤩😉. The OG version is currently on sale here in Australia 🇦🇺 for roughly $43USD and the riser 3.0 version for about $55USD (before taxes). VG value for a SFF build. The Max is a nice looking case and I love the grey/gunmetal colour. I found building in the OG NR200 model very easy to do, even with custom water cooling 👍🏆🤩. A well designed case by CM 👍😉. FWIW, I've been running a 3080 Strix, CoolerMaster V850 SFX in the NR200 for ~2 years, heavy usage. With my scenario, the high ambient temperature around the PCIe connectors and lack of airflow to the connectors in the NR200 contributed to 3 of 24 PCIe plastic ends singeing over the metal pins. Also, the plastic ends became brittle at the connector tips. Love the case but moving to a midtower with better airflow and saving the NR200 for lower power demand builds. I partly blame myself for not recognizing I should've gone with function over form for my use case.

I have the original NR200 and my concern with this case is that you lose a lot of airflow options. As the max is configured it is always going to be pulling in hot air from the gpu to cool the cpu which is not going to have great thermals. The other is that on the original I have a 280mm aio on the side pulling in fresh air to cool the 5950x, I have 2 noctua slim fans under the horizontally mounted 3080ti pulling in fresh air and I also have 2 NF-a12x25s on the top to extract. So if you make sure the gpu can fit the fans under it, it will be the most optimal way of cooling everything high end in the case
@TechTesters
@TechTesters 2 жыл бұрын
You lose options, but I think that if it handles such an extreme worst case scenario it's just not something to really worry about. I doubt you'll be able to do a 250W+ i9-12900K with any configuration, save custom loops?

PSU is modular, you could swap it if you want, AIO does have shorter tubes, and the case temp is a sensor between the CPU and the memory, not the VRMs (Those will be warmer). Temps are slightly better with the mesh side, but not enough to change the conclusion or recommend a 12900k without an undervolt.

I had to get a Thermalright contact frame and Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut just to keep it in the 80s under full load at 5400mhz in a case with 6 intake and 4 exhaust. I'm very interested in an SFF build. Looking at this case or the NZXT H1 V2. The upside to this one is a bigger AIO, but I think the H1 V2 looks better, and it also takes less desk space.

I'd love to get this SSF case because of it's improved layout on the inside compared to its earlier iterations, but I wish there was a version that doesn't come with the AIO and PSU. Like many other people I'm sure, I already own these parts so to buy the NR200P Max with its pre-installed AIO and PSU isn't really feasible. Other than that though, the case looks so clean!

I just bought this case for €269 and am struggling a bit to decide which CPU to get. initially wanted to go for i7-12700K but now thinking of i7-13700 (non K) thank you for the advice and testing of the i9, because I considered that too! Motherboard is ASUS ROG Strix B760-I GAMING WIFI with Corsair Vengeance CMK32GX5M2B6000C30 (DDR5 6000MHz) nice video Nada!

I ended up getting the 14700K, it throttles.. but I am doing a couple more mods this weekend (2 bottom slim fans + Thermalright CPU Contact Frame for LGA 1700) hopefully better.

You're forgetting to factor in that it includes a 4.0 PCI-E riser. Also, the power supply cables, as well as the AIO tubing, are just the right length which is already a very desirable feature.

Of course. And smaller scale production means those are relatively expensive here. Paying a bit more foe the NR200P Max convenience is 100% fair if you ask me. But $150 (some regions) might be pushing it.

Wonder if she tried intake on the aio fans. I am sure they were sucking the heat of the gpu through the radiator.

Hi, is it 'still OK' to use the AIO which come with NR200P MAX to cool 13900K? (no overclock, no graphic card, 96GB DDR5, 2x NVMe M2,.. for music production)

This is a great case but aside having the glass window on the side its a no! no! for RTX 3090> A vented side panel is the best way to go for better GPU thermos .RTX 3090s run hot keep that in mind .

It can be ordered with a ventillated steel side. The glass is optional.

I love the cooler master nr 200 cases. I already had an ATX b550 board laying around so I just went with the NZXT h510 flow. It's a nice case, but I prefer ITX

I have an NR-200P. It is very nearly a perfect case. The Max version makes it even better. Undervolting is the best advice. Nice review. (I did not expect the NR-200P to be so good. I bought it as a temporary case (because it was immediately available) while I waited for something more sophisticated. After building, I realized that I did not need anything else.)

Nice! And I agree. It might not be the smallest ITX case but it does do really well.

@@TechTesters Building in the NR-200P is tight enough. I'm not sure I would want a smaller case. For sure, I would go with air cooling in a tighter case.

Perfect Review with everything i was looking for. I try to assemble my mini-gaming PC in Online-Shop with this Case. I was wondering about how a 3 slot GPU can be placed inside (in terms of specs - it should be no problem - i testet a PC Configurator with this Case and it wont let me put in a 3 slot graphicscard) I'm just not sure about processor. I looking at the Ryzen 7 5800x3D - but i'm overhealmed by all the different cpu's gpu's. It seems that the 3D cpu fits best for me - developing software and playing World of Warcraft. Thanks a lot for your Video. I will check out you other videos to see if it may help me build my first pc :)

I was looking everywhere in youtube to find this kind of build with excitement and hoping it is best to put i9 12900k without issues. But then, ur sharing about the thermal issue just really get my attention. If i9 is not an ideal choice, i7 12700K is ideal? or maybe still can use i9 with custom water cooling?
@TechTesters
@TechTesters 2 жыл бұрын
i9 with custom will be fine (but then you would buy an NR200P non-max). Or going with an i7 is probably the better choice. Or undervolt a bit, that works too.

@@TechTesters Appreciate your suggestion. I will reconsider the choices there. But it is good to mention, i need that i9 capability. Is the undervolt i9 still better than i7 in term of performance?
