I never have problem with my tent stakes bag. I just open the bag and tip it upside down. This scientific method allows the weight of the tent stakes combined with forces of gravity to drop from the bag into my hand.

THANK YOU! That opening segment was like watching a bad infomercial. Nothing against the product he was trying to sell, seems fine, but I did not enjoy how hard he was trying to push the idea of current peg bags being difficult to use.

Hell yea to the Mayfly Ultralight camp shoes. I got them a couple years ago and I have a tip for them: When I finish packing up all my gear I slide them down the back of the pack, where your back makes contact, side by side (laces pointed inwards toward the gear) and they act as a sort of hard frame if you use a frameless pack like my Pa'Lante.

One of the key "innovations" of the Bogler trowel is the 3d printed part at the top - easy to retrofit something similar onto a deuce of spades or other thin metal trowel with some minor expertise and a 3d printer.

I have been a big fan of One Bottle Hydration for a couple of years now! There are several different adaptations to accommodate the different types of water bottles and drinking flasks! And the price is right too! 👍

I bet it makes it easier to drink enough. I used to use a bladder but had numerous catastophes like having the hose pop off and dump 3 liters of water inside my pack in the middle of winter, or have my hose freeze solid, or have the mouthpiece pop off and dump water all over me. It wouldn't solve the freezing problem, but not being a bag inside my pack with gear constantly pressing on it would go a long way towards solving the other 2 problems. I learned a long time ago for winter Ice climbing trips to get a coat with inner pockets that will hold platypus bottles next to my body and to turn the bottles upside down so the openings freeze last.

What's cool about the OneBottle system is that they incorporated a little one-way valve so the smartwaterbottle doesn't collapse in super cool.

Love your channel and watch every video with a thumbs up. You do have a lot of great advice. But, one thing that you have mentioned several times and I just don't understand. Why is it so hard for you to get stakes out of the regular stake bag? Probably the only thing I could teach you about backpacking. You don't reach into the bag! You push the stakes out and then select what stake you want.

@@rungavagairunThis new material is heat bonded. I’m only seeing a tiny amount of seam tape on the inside of the pack here. Must weigh less than 10 grams. Nylofume pack liner is 30 grams and it’s a hassle to deal with every time. This is like 20 grams lighter and less hassle. It’s innovation even if it saves only 20 grams yet reduces fussing around with a liner bag.

My water carry solution: I rigged a Onewind Ridgeline sack on each side about my rib cage (front attached to shoulder strap, back end on the pack, above hip belt pocket); I slide a platypus 1 litre soft bottle in each with a sports cap. Bag is extremely light, easy to reach, comfortable. On hot days a cool bottle is an amazing heat sink.

I got a pair of those Mayfly sandals. I tried to like them, but the complete lack of any traction made them unusable for me. Xero Shoes weigh more, but they are about the lightest sandal I have found that pack small but still have some good traction. When I'm walking up or down a hill near my campsite in the dark to relieve myself, I don't want to end up sliding downhill on my butt.

I enjoyed your gear review. I especially liked that soap. Soap & water reduce illness. / I like that pack, too. I wonder if it comes in a brighter color. I'll look into it. Is that large outside pouch pocket waterproof, too? I guess water would just flow into the pouch pocket from the top opening. / That cat hole trowel is a good design as well. Putting the cutting edges on both sides was a good move. I'm left-handed, so such details are a deal breaker for me. A responsive designer is awesome.
