A lot of you have been wondering where I have been... I really struggled with publicizing this, but ultimately I feel that honesty, transparency, and authenticity is always the right choice.
He truly was my biggest supporter, in life and KZfaq. In fact, he was so fascinated with the business-side of KZfaq that he would've wanted me to monetize the heck out of this video, but I feel that would come across horribly. If KZfaq plays ads that is out of my control.

Dude your channel doesn't suck. I'm going on my first solo Vegas trip tomorrow because, in part, to your videos. I'm pushing myself past what I would have ever thought of doing because of your attitude to life. You should know you have a positive impact in real people out in the real world. I hope you're doing well man, and I'm really sorry to hear about your Father. Your audience is here because of your authenticity and trying to give advice to other travellers. We will still be here for you no matter how long it takes for you to grieve the way you need to.

Grief and sorrow does change the attitude. I hate when people say GET OVER IT. No, work through it. There is nothing like a Dad and son bond. I love your channel. That’s all sir.

Video should have been titled A Tribute to my Father. He deserved every word you said. Father and son relationships are everything. My Dad was the greatest man I have ever known and now I work hard everyday to bring the same joy to my son that my Dad brought to me. Your videos are amazing in part because your Dad was amazing. You are him. He is proud of his son.

James, I’m not a typical KZfaq commenter, however I felt compelled to tell you how much my wife and I appreciate you and your videos. We’ve been watching for years and you’ve inspired us to pursue travel and ignited a greater passion for adventure. Thank you for your hard work, resiliency, kindness, and desire to inspire us all. Obviously nothing can replace your dad, but throughout the rest of your life you will be the beneficiary of moments and reminders that you carry his love with you everywhere you go. I pray that this will bring a measure of unmatched comfort whenever you need it most. Thank you for what you do, keep pursuing your dreams, and safe travels my friend

We also re-watch videos months after we visit a particular hotel and reminisce about the pool, room and foods as you visit them. This was a touching video, thanks for sharing that part of yourself with us. I know it won't be easy when this day comes for me and I will have pretty big shoes to fill as well. Mama Coolist, you have an amazing son that produces incredible, honest travel videos that sometimes create friendships even he's over at another sunny beach. Our household went to Lopesan Costa Bavaro three weeks ago, and I met a gentleman from the UK while watching the sunrise over the party boats just offshore. About five minutes into the conversation, we both found out the reason why we were there was because of some KZfaqr that goes by Coolist highly recommended it. James, your content is amazing and it was so cool to talk about it with a stranger that soon became a friend. We're going to try to cross paths again next year from opposite sides of the globe. Regarding your father, my dad beat Stage 3 Esophageal cancer, and I get to cherish my bonus time with him. I'm happy to see that you had the opportunity to do the same. I am anxiously awaiting your journey back to happiness...keep up the good work!

Deepest condolences for your loss, James. My father was in the hospital for one year straight, pulled through after countless complications, and lived another seven years before the complications caught up with him. Like you, he was an amazing dad and left this life way too soon. He is always in my heart and prayers and his influence on me lives on in my day to day choices in life. It has been many years since his passing. There will always be an empty space but, surprisingly, he remains as much a part of my life now than when he was alive. In time, you will see just how great he was because of how great an influence he had on you. That means he is always there when you need him. Always. Go do you!

Allow yourself to grieve and process. I was in a very dark place after my mom's passing. Everyone handles grief differently. I am so very sorry for your loss.

First off, my deepest condolences. That is rough stuff, and I have been in your shoes. I lost both of my parents at an early age. My mother when I was 15 and my father when I was 29. I'm 55 now and it still hurts, but as you said, I was lucky to have been born in the US and had them as parents. I appreciated you opening up and explaining why you thought your videos were off, but you didn't need to. I wonder, and find it remarkable how you even mustered the will to do any videos with everything that you had going on. Kudos to you showing your personal human side. Took a lot to do that. Too tell you the truth, I didn't notice any downgrade just the length between videos was more. I thought it was just being tired from having that much fun partying, eating, and drinking all the time. Anyway, I just want to also thank you for sharing your passion for travel, showing us cool stuff, and your honest opinions. It really helps narrow down hotels that are out there. Someday my wife and I hope to take your advice and hit one of these hotels. That's if, like you said, the new 1 dollar still is a 10 dollar bill or more the way it's going. You are awesome at what you do and look forward to more. Keep your passion going, and take time for yourself to heel. Stay safe and take care!

Very sorry, James, to hear of your loss. Your love of your father comes through loud and clear. It was nice for us to hear of your relationship stories with him. Just seeing the pictures of him at the end of this video, it seems clear where your moral principles emanate from. Thank you for sharing, may God bless you and your family... and may he have already welcomed your dad home with open arms.

Hey Man, my heart goes out to you and your family. You are great at what you do and I lost my dad, who was 93, three months ago and I binged a lot of KZfaq in those two weeks after and namely your videos of your traveling and reviewing all over the place. It took my mind to a better place during a dark time so what you do makes a difference to lots of other people in ways you might not even think of so keep moving forward and know your videos sometimes mean more than just reviewing a cool pool scene. Your communication skills and mojo are exemplary. Keep up the good work and stay strong. You are admired by many.

James, thank you for this heart to heart peek at your personal life and the realness that that has been with your dear father and best friend's passing. How devastating it must have been and still be to you and your mom. To have that deep, complex, and rewarding relationship with your father must be so special. Congrats on that forever bond. And thank you for always sharing in specific, colorful ways that make you and your energy and opinions so clear, useful, and entertaining. Your dad and mom must be so proud of you, your character, and your dedication. God bless you all.

So sorry for your loss. I feel your pain and can totally relate. My Dad was diagnosed with cancer 14 months ago and we lost him 3 months ago. The stronger the love, the stronger the pain of loss. Glad you got to spend time with him while you could. You'll never regret that. I enjoy your videos and look forward to traveling more as I try to regain happiness again. I pray you will have strength and comfort as you grieve the loss of your father. It's hard.
