If you are someone who is a fan of romantic walks, serene lush landscapes, pleasant misty weather and a diverse & friendly mix of locals as well as expats, then Coonoor is the place to be. Often described as a dream come true for writers, poets, and artists, Coonoor is the perfect travel destination for nature-lovers and romantics.
And this time I chose to spend some time in a backpackers hostel, but no just any other hostel - a place with a vintage character and warm hosts. Created and run by a couple of artists, Vidhya Prajwal , this place is a perfect blend of art and nature. This artists duo traded their city lives in Bangalore to work as full time artists and eventually started their dream venture in Coonoor - The Birdhouse Backpackers Hostel

Coonoor looks to be a wonderful place..Hill station has its own merits as well as demerits..The most important part is to have a lively company where you can rely upon and enjoy every bit of moment to its fullest..Concept of running a hostel is too good an idea.. You have a company as well as some earning is also there.. Beautiful.. Abhishek..

After walking on the rail tracks at Ooty; you took me to a place I hardly had any idea about. This trip and the stay in the hostel will be in my memories forever and would like my daughter and son to stay there for a few days. The stay was made better by the friendly couple who gave their personal insights and also with all the information about the place, weather, people and culture of the region. Please accept our heartfelt gratitude & best wishes from Mumbai.

This was all things beautiful put together… totally !!!!!! I grew up in Panchgani and most of us folks had a sure shot way to dry clothes ! A really tall cane basket called a झाप in Marathi would be turned upside down, clothes were neatly arranged all over it, leaving little openings for water vapour to escape. A mighty 1000 watt lamp with a sturdy wooden base attached to it would burn all through the night underneath the cane basket. And ta da … we had warm clothes the next morning!!

When we are calm, unhurried, and free from stress and distractions the brain slips into a richer, more nuanced mode of thought. I recently visited the "The Birdhouse Backpackers Hostel". Amazing place, you feel at home right from the moment you enter into the premises. Prajwal and Ms. Vidya are very friendly and amazing hosts. The caretaker takes care of you very nicely. Every inch of the hostel has stamps of the couple and the way they have decorated the place. Dorms, beds, living room, dining room, private room, washrooms, each place is amazingly kept very clean. Thanks for the wonderful blog, it surely motivated me to visit this hostel and stay there..

The birdhouse backpackers hostel is always going to special place in my heart this was my first solo trip and it was Coonor in Dec 2019 where I stayed for three to four days and Vidhya is a very warm and kind soul she saw to it thst I was comfortable for the entire stay . Connor for sure has a very very different vibe the mist the mist the mist I just so miss the mist glad 😊 you featured this lovely place and this lovely couple who sure have a passion for people thanks for reviving and reliving my memories 😊

Really learnt a good lesson from this video.. One needs to have a good support system Respect begets respect Decorations reminded me of my hostel days of Sacred Heart Dalhousie, where I lived for almost 8 years Foggy days too were a part of life There were no mobiles way back in 80s and 90s so the memory of those beautiful views resides inside us. Hope to visit Conoor too
