If you don’t mind me asking, where do you live now? Were you born in Kawangware? Were your parents, grandparents, or other family? How old were you when you moved? Sorry for all the questions. I’m just fascinated by the people and their stories from places like these. The people are amazing, beautiful, and resilient. I just wonder how these places came to be and where all the people came from and how they ended up there. Were they originally nomads and ended up in places like these because of hardships? I’m just curious about your story and the story and history of these places. Btw, you’re so pretty 😊.

Everything is perspective. You don’t know what you don’t know and you don’t miss what you don’t have “til the internet brings fomo to the area” In America most everyone has their own place to live with running water and power and shops at a corporate store. But in America there is no community and no sense of neighbor. Over there they call someone who lives a mile away in the slum their neighbor and will help them when in need. In America you can’t even get a cup of sugar two houses down from yours
@reservemyname749
@reservemyname749 3 жыл бұрын
Why does America seem so bleak compared to anywhere else in the world. We have no sense of community no sense of family even within our families everyone is tied into the rat race being a taxed slave. In America parents helping out their kids is helping pay maybe 1/4 of their college payment if that n kick them out on their way. Rather in smart families and other nations families stay close knit helps and work on the same issues to be sure everyone is on the same page an advancing together

With all due respect I disagree. I live next to Kibera and I think it would serve this residents to be mad. There have been plans to modernize this area dating back to 2003; government contracts were handed out, billions were allocated to bring in piped water and sewage, high speed broadband and affordable housing but a combination of bad leadership and graft ensured no major improvement occured. There have been 3 elections since that first commitement but the residents of Kibera have never changed who they vote for and when they change their leadership the titles simply moves from brother to brother yet the electrolate never hold their leaders accountable.
@jiffylube2636
@jiffylube2636 2 жыл бұрын
@David Mwayi I heard on another video that it’s estimated to take over a 1000 years for Kibera to be semi-modernized because the ppl don’t want to leave and the govt can’t force them out. But you are so right about the grift and corruption. Sadly anywhere ppl can gain money and power, grift and corruption is rampant. Doesn’t matter how poor or rich a country is, most politicians are sleazy and corruptible. It’s sad that the ppl are easily misled and used by these bad politicians. Education in these parts should be free and widely available. It’s heartbreaking how many of the poor ppl are exploited by the politicians and wealthier ppl. The ppl are amazing despite all of it. My heart goes out to them all.

@davidmwayi8611 2 жыл бұрын
@@jiffylube2636 I'm not sure where you got the 1000 years from but even in my most pessimistic opinion that number sounds over inflated. also Kenya has free education upto high school level and we have very high literacy levels on average but I've been looking into this issue lately ,cause I'm considering running for elective office, and I have a pretty good idea of why and how places like Kibera, Majengo all this other low income places got to where they are and I could write you a book about it. The cliff notes are corruption, a failure of the judiciary branch of government and a lack of civil education.

Deworm and watch out for H Pylori. Your stomach isn't used to such foods and water used to clean the kachumbali (onion salad) ingredients. I suggest you visit the beautiful tea farms in Limuru and coffee plantations just 20 miles from Nrb

I live in one of the 4 border estates to Kibera and one thing this clip doesnt cover is Kibera is sorrounded by wealthy neighbourhoods and as we speak there are hundreds possibly thousands of families being displaced as the government builds a highway through this wealthy neighbourhoods. The highway will literally serve no commercial benefit all it does is to connect one residential area with another.
