Imagine being so bad at your job that you endangered the lives of multiple people by threatening several people with a gun. And all that happened is you can't do that job anymore. As a case study all it does is continue the legal precedents that cops can basically do whatever they want and not have to suffer the same consequences as everyone else.

To be fair to police (whether they deserve it or not) the suspect always matches the 'general' description of "a Human, wearing some kind of clothing". This way police can justify pretty much anything. Also, I was once a "suspect" stopped by police. I was politely stopped, and asked for cooperation. They showed me a picture of the person they were looking for, who did look a bit like me. They thanked me, and five minutes later I was on my way. No weapons were drawn and no vulgarities were used. Like barring a lawyer from practicing law I agree it should be done however on a state level for state officers and at a federal level for federal officers so that if a state cop gets off the state charges there's always the federal charges

The cop committed felony assault. I could have put a bullet through his skull in that circumstance and I would have been well within the law. He needs to go to prison, and that felony assault should prevent him from ever being in law enforcement again. Cops have exactly zero lawful use of force granted to them as cops. Every single authority they have to use force comes from the fact that they are citizens and people. Cops have more circumstances under which they're allowed to search property and arrest people, but that's it. They don't have any constitutional authority to use more force than me when making an arrest, and they don't have special authority to defend themselves or each other. If I pointed a gun at a random cop for being in the vicinity of an alleged guy who allegedly drew a gun on someone, I'd end up in prison. Cops need to be held to at least that same standard. Because they should damned well know better, the sentence should really be doubled or tripled. If they can't figure out how to not commit felonies like this, how the fuck can they expect anyone else to figure it out? The idea that this guy got such a tiny slap on the wrist is an affront to everything our constitution stands for.

This unstable, irresponsible wreck will probably get a job as a cop in Texas. They love gun toting madmen.

"Are you a cop? You dont tell me what a threat is to me" Now that is some classic cop attitude. Good for everyone that this guy is off the streets.

but he isnt off the streets? He got a 2 week vacation from work and eventually quit. He mostly got in trouble (banned from law enforcement) only because he quit while under "discipline" for this crime. But he is still a free man who faced next to no consequences, and he could even move to the next state over and get a police job again if he really wanted to hunt more black folks :/
