CopenHill: The Story of Iconic Clean Energy Plant With Its Own Ski Slope

In Copenhagen, there is a bizarre-looking yet almost fitting skyline building; the building in question is called Amager Bakke (CopenHill). Inside it houses a waste-to-energy plant that provides up to 72,000 homes with power.
Designed and built by BIG, the design attempts to reclaim an unused element of a building for the public to enjoy through the seasons. In summer, there will be hiking trails, playgrounds, fitness structures, trail running, and climbing walls. During the winter, the park will have ski slopes designed by BIG.
Well, that was the intention. A few years have passed since the building opened, and cracks are starting to appear. The material used to create the ski slope is degrading faster than first thought, and this issue could mean that the slope closes for good.
Another issue is that there is now not enough garbage to feed the generators, and Denmark is now importing trash from neighboring countries.
Could this be the future for buildings? Finding multiple uses and creating new areas within our busy cities?

We all remember the London Smog. Glad to see this baby around! Being truly environmentally-friendly like this is what matters; less pollution, more opportunity for growth! Let’s not forget we could make use of CFCs in that giant too. The uses are various, but they still add up! Helps out with these landfills, too~.

the ski slope is nice, but if it's too expensive, a large garden would be an awesome alternative.

You don't have to ski. You can already walk or run up or down amongst many lovely plants.

I think it means profitable in a social context, no one is gonna pay to see a tour of a waste facility, but they would pay to ski down it. Without a social element to the facility, like a tour or a ski slope, it has no way to make money off of the people.
