Whenever I try to tell my family how stressed I am they say "there is nothing to be stressed about you just gotta believe in yourself". But the issue is that I have lost faith in myself and I feel like I am incapable of doing anything

Maybe I can help, because I don’t think that you really feel like you’re incapable of doing anything, I think you might be afraid that the way you do things is the wrong way. The thing is that you’re you and that comes with your very own way of doing things. Others might not like it because they have their own “right ways” of doing things, but you can either do things your way or you don’t do anything at all. Guess which of these two options is gonna make you feel capable and confident in yourself? And doing things your way comes with a big bonus: if your way of doing something is wrong, others will tell you and then you can learn to improve your ways with their advice :)

I don’t like when people say that to me. cause I KNOW that I shouldn’t be that stressed. but I can’t help it and I feel like something is wrong with me when I do get super stressed over “little” things.

@@ally_schmally It is great to share similar experiences with others, at least it lets you know you are not struggling alone and there are people who understand what you are going through. After I wrote this comment and school started, I tried to turn my constant stress to my benefit. I don't know if it is healthy of not but at least it gives me motivation to finish my schoolwork. Yes I break down crying over the smallest new task sometimes, but it doesn't get in the way of "i need to finish this so i can feel relieved" mindset. Like I said earlier, I am not sure if this is healthy or helpful but I wanted to show a way and also give an update on my situation. Keep in mind that what you are going through is valid and you don't need to instantly "get over it". Give time for yourself to determine the struggle and find ways to deal with them

It's important to notice how the people around you are coping with stress before you go around socializing with them. I'm in the process of leaving my current group of friends behind so I can have time/energy for positive people with the mindset of self development to enter the picture.

Nice video. To reduce stress and overthinking be careful what you feed your mind. Avoid comparing yourself with others, reduce watching negative social media and news channels and avoid constipation as it affects the mind. Your breathing is closely related to the brain [mind] and gives relief from stress-anxiety. For a relaxed mind observe the sensations of your natural incoming--outgoing breath at the entrance of the nostrils for 10-15 minutes or more. You can sit or lay down--eyes closed--No deep breathing. Don’t fight your thoughts. Never meditate with expectations. Make it a lifetime habit to observe your breath day and night with eyes open or closed before sleep, at work, when travelling, taking a walk etc Best wishes--Counsellor.

even though self-harm is dangerous, I'm so tired of hearing "You need to get immediate help" and having that be the only tip. I wish people would give a list of alternatives to it, instead of just saying, "Oh, you self-harm? All I can do is refer you to somewhere else!" it makes me feel like I'm crazy.

I know this video is ultra simplified for the majority of the public, but it is missing a MAJOR point. “Healthy” vs “Unhealthy” isn’t a great way to word it. “Adaptive” vs “Maladaptive” is better. The primary goal of coping, is to find a way to reduce stress while adapting to the situation. Avoidance, rumination, venting, etc. are all Maladaptive (or anti-adaptive) So will doing the “coping mechanism” actually help you in some way? Does it benefit you while also helping you process what you are dealing with? Giving a Good vs Bad list isn’t necessarily going to teach viewers how coping works, and why we need it.

what if i just start purely doing acts of kindness? is that still considered a healthy coping mechanism? cus it feels like purely focusing on that is making me lose sense of self.

Dalwampo, Never compare your life or appearance with others espec ially relatives and friends. Reduce negative thoughts to feel better. Your breath is directly related to your mind [brain] causing negative thoughts-anxiety. For a relaxed life sit on a chair, back erect, eyes closed, be still and observe the sensations of your incoming--outgoing breath at the entrance of the nostrils for around 5-10-15 minutes or more. Don’t fight with your thoughts. Slowly they will reduce and relax the mind. No deep inhalation-exhalation or breath counting needed. Anytime of the day or night before sleep sit or lie down on your back and observe your breath. Be as still as possible as it reduces negative thoughts. Make this a lifetime daily habit to have a good life. Best wishes Shyaaam Sir. -Counsellor.

@@dalwampohasnas.6266 Since many years I have made it a habit to observe my breath for a few minutes even when walking alone, reading. before sleep etc and feeling relaxed. It is very simple but a strong desire to transform from within is needed. Whenever you can be as still as possible as stillness reduces negative thoughts. Develop your mental muscles to handle life challenges. Best wishes. Shyaaam Sir-Counsellor.
