How sad the place is abandoned. The building is a beautiful Victorian style house and deserves to at least not look abandoned. Keeping it cleaned up may discourage people from breaking in so much as well as less trash being thrown on the property. I'd check with the city about the downed line and check into what it would take to remove that tree laying partially in the drive. You got it right about at least coming back and re-mowing what you just did to make it look even nicer. Good job and nice to see your little helper with you. Keep safe and blessed for what you do. Oh I love this Eric, an absolutely gorgeous old home, historic I'm sure, as the church across the road. I want to see it all cleaned up, right down to the grass in the cracks on the driveway. I'd give your son a trash bag if he's looking for something to do, and pick up all the paper trash as you go over it with the mower. A gorgeous piece of property you picked to clean here.

Leave the tree so they can't drive through the driveway! I know the state shutdown the funeral home in 2019 from not putting prepaid funeral expenses in a authorized escrow account in 30 day's (law) 83 year's of service and boom new Lara law's gets so many Funeral homes shut down in seconds I'm so GLAD there's still people like you that are willing to help and do good!!! I'm always asking why can't neighbors All start being neighborly again and start caring and helping again! Wouldn't the world be a better place again ♥️🙏

I try to pay it forward also. Recently when I’ve been at different restaurants I’ve paid for several people’s meals. Just some Info on The Funeral Home. The funeral home was established in 1936 Royal Funeral Home in Battle Creek has license revoked by state Michigan regulators have revoked the license of Battle Creek's Royal Funeral Home. The Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs said in a statement the funeral home and owner, Rick Royal, failed to reimburse holders of prepaid funeral services. LARA said in May the funeral home had not placed money for prepaid services with an authorized escrow agent. While the funeral home had provided services for 20 of 92 contracts. A total of $192,204 had not been placed in escrow or refunded, officials said. In the statement Thursday LARA said $78,000 of more than $194,000 in ordered restitution had not been repaid. As a result the state said fines have been increased and any application for reinstatement of a license will be denied. The state had said that all the money must be repaid by Feb. 28 but that was extended. The license was revoked on April 16. The funeral home closed on May 28, 2019.

I love that home and the roof, etc., that house is worth preserving and thank you, hopefully deter riff raff but sounds like it's a natural occurrence. I'm pretty sure I've seen this place in a video of an "urban explorer." The guy didn't force his way in, it was already open, nor did he damage or take anything while he was there. Nice property. The place was in business for 83 years (Est. 1936), before it was shut down by the state pulled it's operating license on May 28th 2019, for prepaid contract "irregularities". Five charges are outstanding. With so many homeless, you can't blame them for squatting there, if that's the case.
