His BAC read at .39 and .385 when this video was taken. This is black out drunk levels. Above .4 is life threatening. This guy was absolutely pickled and to even be conscious at those levels means he has a high tolerance ie: he drinks this much often. Thank God they caught him now and not after he died or caused someone else's death.

I’m a retired LEO & i was a Sgt Det when i retired. I’ve arrested many LEOs in my career for various reasons & i can promise you i did not treat them any better or any worse than a regular citizen. They’re treating him as if he’s a little brother & trying not to get him in trouble w mom & dad. It’s ridiculous. He could have killed people That BS of calling someone to come get him is crazy, just wrong! I would have done SFSTs & a PBT etc as soon as i could like normal & would have arrested him on the spot. These officers are wrong for wasting time talking etc like he’s not just hammered drunk. Having a BAC of near .4% is just crazy. It was probably higher than that when they first encountered him but they waited so long to test him. And why the hell is he even driving if he has regular seizures? How can he be employed as an officer if he has seizures? In my state you can’t drive unless you haven’t had a seizure in 6 months. Then have to be evaluated & cleared by a dr before you can drive again. This guy is something else. It just fires me up seeing this. How many people has he arrested & treated worse than this over the years? How many did he arrest that was so close to .08% just to make a case? He’s a damn hypocrite & deserves the maximum sentence & fines. He definitely doesn’t deserve to be employed as a LEO anywhere at all. Not even a crossing guard I was T-Boned at an intersection one afternoon trying to get to a wreck w possible entrapment. Anyway i was cleared & found not at fault but i was in the department within 15 minutes of me calling it in & doing a mandatory admin breathalyzer then directly after that was driven to the hospital by my Sgt for a blood draw to test for everything else. Then was put on desk duty until the results came back. Point is that department had absolute zero tolerance for any fuckery on the job & I think every department should be as strict. I remember my chief telling me before i blew “you realize if you don’t blow .000% I’m going to arrest you here & now & you’ll be fired on the spot? Then if anything other than precipitation medicine is found in your blood you’ll have charges then too don’t you?? Best police chief i ever worked for. Did not mince his words,sugar coat his words etc. He was one of those people that you knew exactly where you stood w him & you knew he didn’t mess around. These officers seemed as if they were trying not to arrest him but finally didn’t have a choice.

He needs help, and being drunk on the job even if he is a cop he should have been helped. Yes, he is a danger to the public, but he needs help, medical/psych care, placed on medical leave, and if he was a good cop he needs to keep his job (if he is compliant to AA & treatment).

Happens WAY more than people think! I was in rehab with SEVERAL cops. As a 13 yr clean addict and alcoholic I don’t think they should be allowed to keep their job as a cop. The ones I was with basically had to complete the ordered treatment and could return to duty. I’m all for forgiving. There is just TOO much temptation for relapse and they are in positions of HIGH trust!! I was in with doctors and lawyers as well. Addiction and alcoholism can effect anyone. But it also then LIMITS us too.

@wellingnoton

Alcoholics who are coming off of alcohol can also get seizures. They're called Delirium Tremors, also known as "the shakes" accompanied with hallucinations. It's a very serious and dangerous symptom of alcohol withdrawal and I have had the displeasure of experiencing DTs multiple times, seizures included, when I was trying to get sober (thank god I am now). It can be deadly if not treated correctly. This guy might have been trying to cover for himself by anticipating withdrawal when the alcohol wears off and knows its gonna be an absolute sh** show. Very sad, honestly. This guy needs treatment for sure.

@@thisisme3238 If you're physically dependent, i.e. if you stop drinking you get DTs, you ARE an alcoholic no doubt. No normal drinker drinks to the point of withdrawal when they stop. DTs are not like the normal shakes one might get after a particularly drunken night, the ones that come with a hangover as the result of being very dehydrated. DTs are the result of your brain being so used to having alcohol affecting it that it has created neural pathways that make the brain think alcohol is a necessary substance to have to function. So, when you take that substance away, your brain responds as if it is lacking a necessary chemical (because it essentially is) and the symptoms that you get as a result are: uncontrollable shaking, nausea/vomiting, loss of bowel control, headaches, hallucinations, and even seizures which can be deadly. it is absolute hell to go through alcohol withdrawal.

I think the seizure claim is a lie as well. He said that trying to cover for being wasted. Idk how the officers didn't know immediately he was faking the 'seizure issue'. He went in and out of if on a dime, denied medical, and you don't behave that way from seizures - he was clearly trying to fake a seizure with his hand motions (etc) that seemed to come and go when spoken to or when he thought no one was looking. Just one example, if he was having a seizure of any kind, he wouldn't be able to retrieve his ID and go right back into the "seizure".

Afterwords I lost meaning and descended deeper and deeper into alcoholism, shame, and self-hatred, and spent about 13 years being the obnoxious drunk my old coworkers would pick up off the street. The shame, spiralling about my drinking, which only caused me to drink more to kill the feelings, leading me to getting into more trouble. I thank God that I'm not there anymore, and I sincerely hope this man, while needing to face the consequences, chooses an easier path.

May we look why people chose to drink? For some, it isn't just for fun. I don't know if this officer is one of them or not, but many people from all walks of life drink from the crap they have seen or see. You can make the argument he may be one, considering the stress of being a cop. He was on the job since 19. Allot to see, and allot to see change. Is it harder being a cop these days? That's for you to decide. I belive so. Do I think hes not cut out for the job, absolutely. Do I think he should lose his job, absolutely. Do I think he needs help, most definitely. I hope he gets it. My last point is, at least he didn't be a ass whole about it, fight, or give them that hard of a time. We saw the same situation with a swat team officer a few years back with all his gear too. What an absolute pos that guy was. Trying to fight back, I think even spitting everywhere, saying he's better then everyone, trying to get off at every single chance. This guy in this video just looks defeated and knows it. Just offering a few points to think about. No "boot licker" here. Just a dude who looks at humans. Cops are held to a higher standard, yes. But in the end they are still human. If your going to comment stupid replies, good for you. I would like to hear genuine discussion though.

I have so many questions!!! I’ve been a nurse for 22+ yrs. If he just had a seizure a couple of months ago and has them every couple of months like he says and he’s missing the left side of his chest, whatever that means, how in the hell is he a patrol officer??? He shouldn’t even have his drivers license until he’s seizure free for a year! Furthermore, he got off work early in the morning and instead of going to bed, especially since he had to work again that night, why would he go party? It’s the 4th of July so I’m sure he hit the bbqs, but to do it in uniform and drive home in his patrol car is disgusting to me. If he said he drank 3 tall boys, we all know that probably meant 6, especially when witnesses saw him asleep in the middle of the road and swerving all over the road! Also, why are the officers asking if someone can come pick him up? He should be going to jail!!!!
