My girl cousins and my sister and me love to go antiquing, thrifting and garage sales. I tend to be like you that is too rich for my blood on some things. lol. We went to Pennsylvania Nov 2022 because I absolutely love the Amish. We actually went to an amazing Amish-Mennonite church. They were sooo sweet and had us stay for lunch. It was like a dream come true. 🥰

UK My grandad was a steam train driver…it was a very well paid job in those days. Some farms/homes here sell their goods at the end of their driveway with an ‘honesty’ box. A lovely video. Thank you all. 🥰

You're not far from my neck of the woods. I get all my produce from the Amish at our farmer's market every Thursday. We get all our meat from the Amish too, buying in bulk every 6 months and we share between myself, my son and his family and his cousin's family. I also get my eggs and honey from the Amish. If you are going to eat out try dienniers buffet on route 30 next to Dutch Haven windmill. It is small buffet and reasonable price. A lot cheaper than Millers or Shady Maple. Have a good time.

Ship Shawana Indiana is the coolest Amish experience ever, maybe someday you will make a trip there all you see is Amish people and they are so welcoming to everyone, they are proud of who they are.They have a restaurant where everyone sits at a huge dinner table with all of the delicious food they made and you eat it like family style.They also make tons of stuff that they make and also people come from all over to sell things so they have a huge flee market.Pretty cool place.

Loving this series but my fave is Kylen being the conductor! You rock little dude! I love kids playing in mud - my health visitor (uk) said it stops asthma even if it's in your genes! Can't stop laughing at the radioactive glass haha - even you have a torch hahahahaha Ryder didn't care, Braydon loved everything and Kylen fainted and Dusty looked exactly like Braydon haha x

We go to amish country in Ohio every year. They keep it so pretty. We usually eat at a amish farm that host meals for a living. Delicious. Have a blast it so much fun

If you go during the week for lunch, it’s a lot cheaper than supper time or Saturday !We really love Gracie’s on West Main in Leola as well!!As a bargain shopper, you might also enjoy Sharp Shopper in Ephrata! If you want to get some good food deals for the way home! So many great places around there!! Enjoy your vacation!

I grew up near Lancaster and when I was a kid, everything was authentic, now it seems so commercial (moved to western Illinois 15 years ago) On another note, you gotta stop watering your boys. They're growing too quickly!!! Enjoy the camping

Absolutely love the Amish country around Lancaster! I live in Florida, but have made it up there a few times and always around the 4th. The Kutztown fair is wonderful and there is a giant buffet that we went to (Shady Maple?). The flea markets are so fun, too. Hope you made many memories, like I have.❤❤❤

I used to live in Lanc and then Leola. I am not sure if you’re staying at Red Caboose. There’s a really good berry stand if you went to corner ketch for the birdhouse. It’s over there. But you have to go super early. If you like home made soap check out Fischer’s off of Pond Rd. Dusty and the boys might like Adamstown Antiques. It used to be HUGE. You might want to call ahead or look it up. It’s been a while. You should get some hamballs, Mac and cheese and stewed tomatoes. Enjoy!!! I miss the area. I didn’t know they sold the sweet onion sauce!!! The best fruit is from the stands at peoples houses. It’s picked fresh when ripe. 😋

I am from Long Island we used to go at least once a year to Amish country when my boys were little. My parents came with us too. We started out tent camping in and near Lancaster and then had a camper and eventually graduated up to hotels. We would also go to Hershey Park from there which is not too far away. And we also took the kids to Dutch Wonderland when they were little. I love the food there. If you go out to eat you should try Deniers, The Shady Maple, or Millers. All good home made Amish food.

You will have to add Holmes County in Ohio to your trip list. I live 2 hours away from there so I go up every couple of months. I have my favorite Amish farmers that I get food items from to being home. Best bacon, eggs, and butter, not to mention jar and baked goods as well.

Stop at Shady Maple

We moved from that area to here in VA Beach...the only thing I miss from that area is Shady Maple...it has a huge grocery store and Smorgasbord...the food is amazing...if you are still in the area you just have to go...oh...the other thing I miss is my favorite thrift shop in Morgantown...it is across the street from Conestoga Christian School and it is in the old schoolhouse...such good prices...so much fun! I hope you saved some seed from the watermelon so you could try to grow some next year. I dry and save my seeds to grow the next season. It saves money, and we've got to be frugal these days.
