Copywrong as it was meant to be heard.
When I first put together Copywrong, it was a pretty mixed bag production-wise. I've learned a lot from project to project, and so I thought I would put together a remaster to see just how far I've come. This has been a surprisingly tough project for me, so I hope you enjoy.

Jazz. Jazz Jazz Jazz. I can't put into words the amount of impact that Copywrong had on me. No other mashup project I'd experienced up until it felt quite so tailor-made for me to enjoy. The rough-around-the-edges approach that colored it so interestingly was a major part of what drew me in - for as much as I've struggled to act like it in our interactions, Copywrong portrayed an authenticity and humanity to its creator, yet at the same time a skill markedly different from your contemporaries. A skill yet to fully develop the way it clearly has, but still immediately noticeable and, needless to say, deeply inspiring to many. There were plenty of projects that I loved and respected, several different points of inspiration that built me up to where I am now. But Copywrong is the thing that made me feel like I *could* do this. It felt more like a reflection of me and the work I would want to do than anything else has, and the fact that it had those little blemishes and yet still remained so consistently excellent made the idea of one day fully building something feel achievable even for someone with a notorious lack of follow through on personal creative endeavors. Copywrong got me to believe in myself just enough to get started. So now we reach the beginning again. You have returned to Copywrong and created the definitive experience. It's a beautiful thing, being able to visibly measure one's own progress and growth so clearly like this. As someone so inspired by Copywrong, the fact that you took the time and effort to reconstruct it to your higher standard feels like a massive thank you to everyone who's loved it and supported you in the intervening years, and I'm certainly grateful for that. So I'll return the sentiment. Thank you for Copywrong, for its beautiful metamorphosis, for everything you've done between, and for everything you might do in the future. It's still very strange to know that in the time since Copywrong, you and I have developed some degree of friendship. But that's also like the coolest fucking thing to experience and I'm so grateful for the opportunity. Also, kind of cool to know we have some things in common - like having to delay an album drop for two months.

Came back from listening to it live. FUCK. YES. Kinda sad that Check Set Juilet was removed from Everbright, but I get it. The entire album was a straight upgrade and tracks like What A Loser, Psycho Death, Manic just got better, even though they were already 10/10 tracks from me. Never stop cookin jazzwave.

it's been nice being able to witness this sort of mashup golden age over the past 2-3 years, but this one is special to me i've seen plenty of projects here and there before then, but copywrong was an eye opener, not just for me but i'm sure many of the other artists in the scene. it's the start of a beautiful little corner of the internet to me. psycho death was a personal favorite in the beginning, and it continues to be one of my favorites to date (thanks for the solo), not to mention the beautiful improvements to the rest of the album i've said it once, i've said it a million times, but your work continues to impress me and i can't wait to see whatever happens to come next. keep doing you jazz

Ah good ol Copywrong, the first ever mashup album that I really fell in love with. Heck, the first ever mashup album I ever listened to that made me fall in love with mashups themselves. And it's getting the remaster treatment? Deserved, 100% deserved. You, Plufaduff and Cosmic Latte have had such an impact on my taste for mashups and music in general that it's crazy.

I got into mashups just before Copywrong came out. Slowly working on The himynameisshan Album and discovering this helped push me to try making cooler stuff. The album initially came out in November 2021 but after listening to Copywrong and seeing the reaction to it, I listened back to my album and realized I wanted to make better stuff for a proper debut. Jazz has consistently been a massive inspiration to my work, and I'd go as far as to credit them for planting the seed of more unironic and conceptual projects post-Copywrong on the rhythm game side of the metaphorical mashup fence, and would give me the confidence to try making an album like Everything Is Wonderful. Jazz is a talented, smart, and funny individual who deserves all the praise thrown at them. I'm genuinely honored to have met them and get to know them a fair but as a fellow Mashpit member. Long live Copywrong. 🤍

I didnt how you could improve Everbright since it's already perfection to me but I do appreciate having a purely Everlong/Brightside mashup. The new mixing definitely improved the vibes and some of the weird note combos that can come with a mashup, but your initial genius is still all there. You've made some legitimately moving stuff and I have faith you'll continue to do so, whether it's a mashup or entirely original material.

theodore still on the mic, we love to see it you're a fucking legend, jazz. been a hell of a ride, and you can very much hear the improvement you've made, whether it's subtle touches or whole changes. hearing Manic in its "final form" gives off the impression that the original was the edge of breakdown, while this version? this is fully succumbing. it's awesome. and this version doesn't even need to surpass the original. instead, they coexist. you can prefer the old, the new, even both. for example, i do prefer the original Everbright, but this version lives up to its title and keeps things simple, which is still a good thing! thanks for doing what you do, cause you're real damn good at it.

I can't possibly try to express how much I admire Jazzwave. Copywrong wasn't really for me but when I heard Something Else it was simply inspiring and it showed me that mashups wasn't just for funny joke songs but an actual true valid form of music. After that Magenta Album and Squaring the Circle got better and better but when this remaster released it took me right back to 2021 and Something Else reminding me why I loved Jazz and the mashup genre as a whole. I will be waiting with bated breath to what ever you put out next which I'm sure will make me fall in love with mashups all over again. (and if it's a Something Else remaster I will cry)

Is definitely a great listen, but would I put it over original release? Not everything has to be "clean" and mastered like a major studio work - in fact, I would say some grunge or unusual/substandard element in a mashup elevates it even more instead of detracting. These songs don't need to be evaluated in the same manner you would evaluate the next radio hit - that scratchy/messy transition sometimes can be exactly the perfect way to do it. Some of the cuts and jumps in this remaster now honestly feel too spaced out and jarring, instead of flowing like a cohesive song. Probably will still pull original release over this if I ever get in mood to listening to Never In A Million Years-Wicked Heart half.

There was a lot to love about the old Copywrong, but this pretty definitively one-ups it. A selection of what I noticed: The transitions in Hey Hey fit more cleanly. The riffs at the opening of Blind Me seem to be... seamlessly mashing up the primary lines of both songs? Which I don't remember it doing before? Manic manages just as much of a system shock as it was before, if not more, while not relying on the brute force 0-100 volume it originally used (which one must imagine is a testament to your wider palette of techniques). It's less noisy, less confused, but somehow more unsettled. Wicked Heart, I didn't notice anything massive, but it definitely feels like there were a few tweaks here and there to fill things out. I... Do not remember what Mr. Brightside sounds like anymore. I swear I've heard it, but Everbright is just... a song. As before, some of the pitch shifting is... at once absurd and immensely satisfying to listen to. Psycho death says 'okay, so he's gonna sound like one of those cats that's trying to talk, but to be clear, you'll be unable to stop yourself going 'yayayaya' with him over a '*PSYCHOSOCIAL*' that's as metal as any you've ever heard in your life' Overall: I rate this as a strict upgrade.
