Coral Princess Cruise Ship Review 2018. The Coral Princess was one of the first ships built for the Panama canal in mind. Although a mid size ship they only book under 2000 passengers which makes for lots of room to roam around on board. Let's review the Coral Princess cruise ship.

Your review is spot on. I just completed a Panama Canal cruise from LA to Fort Lauderdale. Everything you commented about from the food, the pool, the attentiveness of the staff was perfect. As you stated the food was good but with a smaller variety in the buffet and the dining room was great. The casino was somewhat smaller than on other cruise ships, but it was never really crowded. The entertainment was OK, but not great. As far as viewing the Panama Canal passage, it's true that there is plenty of upper deck locations for viewing while entering the locks, but they do have glass surrounding them, and the glass is not always the cleanest, so it can obscure the view for taking pictures. But here's a secret.... The forward facing areas on decks 11 and 10 are open to the public and hardly anyone knows about them, especially since they're not visible from the upper decks.

I haven’t been on a cruise in nearly 30 years and finally booked an Alaska - Vancouver trip in August on the Island Princess. My last cruise was Royal Caribbean when I was in high school. Thank you for a fun and extremely useful channel, Don. It keeps me sane when I’m in the office counting down the days until I leave.

Don The only issue we found after the last refit. They put the IC beside the casino. The coffee area was constantly bombarded with the noise and smoke from the Casino.

We have been on Coral a couple of times and really like it. Most of our more recent ones have been on Regal and Royal which we love but , we now feel the smaller ships may be more to our liking, much more room on Coral. Great new schedule coming up in 2021 to South America, some already sold out.

My wife and I cruised Alaska in June of 2018, and loved every minute of it ( at least I did). I’ve been on newer and nicer ships but Don’s Family Vacations is right, there does seem to be lots of room up on deck. The only issue I had was with Princess, not the ship. My luggage was lost while in Denali during the tour part of the cruise/tour package and I didn’t get it back for 4 days. Despite this, I still loved Alaska and this trip.

Those are called PanaMax ships that can go through the Panama Canal . Since the PC was up[graded a few years back, larger ships can pass through the PC. The new ships are called New PanaMax ships. THe PC can handle all but the very largest ships now.

Thank you for the review. I'll be taking this ship back home from Alaska. My wife and I used to cruise every year and by far, Princess was the worst cruises of any of the top ranked cruise lines. I swore I'd never use them again, but this year it was my only choice back. Also I wish to say my wife and I are not demanding. We don't drink, we eat little and have no special needs. The ship I was on had broken doors, rails and lights. The food looked stale. The crew on Princess didn't seem to care, but then again, what could they do I suppose. Anyhow after this review, I'm feeling more comfortable about taking this ship. Thanks and all the best.

Yes, we have going thru the Panama Canal from Fort Lauderdale. Now, my husband wants to go again this time from San Francisco! Will then have been on both ships that go thru the Panama Canal!

hittingtax26 no, you have to physically go there ( or call) and they check on it, it's reactive, not proactive. You have to be proactive while they are reactive. If something is found, they won't just call you.

Yes on Coral in November 2014. I took the cruise which made the Panama Canal essentially the main attraction/excursion (of course the other ports of call had an interesting selection of excursions as well). On this cruise Coral went through the first set of locks (Gatun), dropped anchor in the lake and those guests taking excursions were tendered ashore (ship turns around and goes back through the locks and ties up at Colon to pick guests up). I took the excursion which went through the remaining two sets of locks of the canal on a small tour vessel - one of the excursions offered on the Princess selections (about 400 guests) right out into the Pacific ocean channel and tied up at a yacht club outside Panama City. I highly recommend this excursion if you really want to see the Panama Canal and how it works and get a tremendous sense of what a monumental accomplishment this is. (note; this excursion was through the old original locks - the expansion was well underway and you got a fantastic view of all the construction). Further, if you can swing the cost I highly recommend a balcony cabin. The new expansion is now operational so this gives another choice, and you can always take a cruise that makes a complete canal passage. Take the trip - well worth it!!

And how mutch in USD is the cost for a singel lugare qeen size bed withe balcony...? Please help me sir...;-)

I’ve been on Regal, similar to Sky. Comparing it to Coral, I thought Coral felt less crowded, but there are more facilities on Regal. Broader entertainment, wider choice in buffet. We tend to cruise for the destination, so I like the less crowded feel of Coral. I thought Don bailed the pros and cons pretty well. The trips we did were Regal - the Baltic, Coral - Antarctica/South America and Island (sister of Coral) - Alaska. Island and Coral are similar but Coral has decks at the rear where Island has cabins.
