For real!!!!!! I’m thinking of doing a reef tank but I can’t find “solid” info. I have 9 planted tanks in soft water biotope with rare South American tetras and I’m also great at growing things under grow lights. It looks like my previous skills are useless in reefing. 😢 .

Abe, you are THE MASTER of reefing videos. This is another insane masterpiece. And after I almost crashed my tank recently by a stupid mistake ( even after 25 years of reefing experience ) i am now looking forward with hope and joy after watching your video 😀

I've been in the saltwater hobby since 1986 I have learned one thing about keeping a reef tank let nature take its course people ask me how often I test my water I told them maybe once every 3 weeks if that they asked me why don't I check more often I told them why the tank is doing fantastic the main things I check are my dkh my salt level temperature and I drip kalkwasser 24/7 and my perimeter stay pretty consistent that's why I believe my tank is doing so well you have too many people out there running to the fish store to try and buy every new product as far as test kits go I let my eyes be the test kit if everything is doing well leave it be too many people in this hobby are chasing numbers and I do not believe these test kits are very accurate like we think they are like I said I checked dkh maybe once every 3 weeks I checked the salt level maybe once a week I even use a wet dry on my reef tank and people say oh you shouldn't do that I say why not did you see my tank it looks pretty good they say well those are nitrate factories I don't always agree with that because my nitrate is very low people ask me how come I'm not using two part I told them kalkwasser Works fantastic and it's very cheap to buy old methods sometimes work the best we all don't need to have the latest and greatest Technologies to have a good-looking tank love your videos keep up the good work🐠🐠🐠🐠

spot on abe, as the video went on everything you said matched up with my exact experience to a T. after over a year of being in the hobby im only just at the stage of acros just beginning to grow but it feels like such a satisfying milestone. No only are your videos entertaining but equally Insightful. I was in the hospital for over two weeks and I was only able to get someone to feed my fish. I worried all the time. Imagine my surprise when I got home to see how much better my reef looked.

Watched this video twice because it was so spot on. I got into reefing 2 years ago. I'm on the exact same trajectory you depict in this video. FINALLY things are looking "right." The knowledge that there are solutions outside of "throw more money at it" was a very difficult and expensive lesson. The other thing I learned was not to look at parameter data points--look at the trends. Is it increasing, decreasing or static? React to the trend, not current readings by themselves, and that's the key to stability. Thanks for the exceptional content!

@@ericsfishingadventures4433 indeed. A lot of clips and it takes time to coordinate the voiceovers with the clip’s. Also, finding content from the net that fits the video can sometimes be a big challenge.

man!!!, I love your videos, you always talk about this topics that nobody else comment, everybody talks about keep your NO3 in this value or your PO4 in this value, but this things that aren´t measurable with a test (the patience, the maturity, etc) in my opinion, are the secret key for the successful, but almost no one talks about them because these are the more difficult things in the reefing

I don't keep corals or saltwater aquaria but I have been watching your videos. I think your tips and philosophy actually generalize to almost any hobby where you are growing organisms! Ive been really enjoying the content and the beautiful aquaria. I keep all kinds of terrestrial plants, mostly oddballs / not popular house plants. So many people struggle with patience, stability, and the deeper realization that YOU aren't really doing anything besides providing appropriate conditions. I also think its really valuable how you tell people to be suspicious of trends and snake oil advice. Above all its important to think of how you grow your organisms as a system. Keeping the system streamlined and simple makes it more sustainable, and more likely to provide long term success. Great stuff! I wish there were more people in the plant hobby talking about this stuff. I feel like the houseplant hobby is being overwhelmed by trends right now and there aren't a lot of cool, science based channels out there.

As a new reefer, only 10 months into my first tank I really feel this. All the things I was tuning and adding in early months ended up doing more harm than good. Cost me months of progress. I've yet to succeed, but I feel like I will.

I always look forward to your videos. This one did not disappoint! It describes what reefing is really like, in a way that puts the viewer in thought. This was me not more than a few months ago. I upgraded from a 20 gallon sps dominant tank about 8 months ago to a 75 gallon with the intent on being sps dominant. For months I’ve struggled to get things right. One thing I learned is that bigger tanks take longer to mature. I eventually just sat back, stopped fighting it and let it do it’s thing. Now it’s completely turned around. I couldn’t be happier. Thank you for putting out such amazing videos. Looking forward to the next one!

Abe. I know it is a PITA but you need to stop messing around and make more videos. The thought you put in and the message is what is needed in the hobby. Great video as always man. I only started in this hobby 8 months ago and your videos and mentality have really helped me. I had really good success for about two months with acros then had dinos hit. Lost most of them and then started tinkering a ton. Things went downhill until I sorted out the dinos. Kept tinkering up until about a month or two ago and things have turned around huge. Now my acros are growing fast and good pe. Keeping it simple and following your reefing philosophy has helped a ton so thank you. Hope everything is well with you and looking forward to the next video.
