This is a very special video that has been in the works for months. The one that has the best price to performance and overall look is the winner. Judging our competition is the one and only Oz from OztalksHW and also YOU fine people will get to vote for the one you like the best!

A month ago I was using the q6600 overclocked to 3.2ghz for 10 years! Until I had to replace the cmos battery. I stopped using the q6600 because it was my msi p6n motherboard Sata ports that failed. I had 8g of viper ram overclocked also. 2 years ago I replaced the amd gpu, and got a gtx760sc. A year ago the PS failed, so I got a 750w gold certified Corsair, because I planed on upgrading. It was an absolute beast. So I went team red and got the 2700x with msi x470 pro carbon, 32g of 3200mhz cl14 ram, a phanteks eclipse tempered glass case, and rx580 is all I need, am a light gamer but I do image processing mostly, I haven’t built it yet. I know it will be a major upgrade for me.

Thanks hopps, it was definitely soul crushing when I totaled up everything but still fun. I think me and definitely tech will actually be neck and neck when it comes to price to performance though.

This has to be some of the worst value I've ever seen, but it does bring a smile to my face to see one of my favorite GPU's paired with a system close to what I started off on

gotta loosen those timings if youre going to oc the ddr2 ive had q6600 well up over 4ghz and ive had even cheap ddr2 oc over 1000 you just have to losen the timings accordingly honestly try 7,8,8,22 i know thats probably looser than needed but it should work at 1000 you shouldnt even need to add voltage

R9 Fury!! That's incredible. Insanely jealous of your OC too. I think it totally tipped the fps in your favor. Late Note: End Screen is TOP!

Hi, do you have any power consumption figures? A near 50% overclock on a 105W TDP CPU must make that cooler quite necessary. Also, I love the cathode tube. It has a really nice wave effect going on in the video. Is that how it looks in reality?
@TechTeardownYT
@TechTeardownYT 5 жыл бұрын
Hey thank you for your kind words. I didn't try to measure power consumption unfortunately. But the r9 fury alone sucks a whole bunch of power around 300 to 400 watts.

my uncle had some old pc parts including a Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 and a pk5 motherboard. and i think i may buy a 1050 ti for it and give it to my little brother. dont worry he doesnt play too heavy games. he mostly plays roblox so i think this will be a perfect pc for him.

@@TechTeardownYT I am still using it. Not for gaming, but for other stuff. I found a OEM pc literally on the street, so I refurbished it and added a Q6600. I have used the BSEL mod and now it runs like the fire department. I have a 8th gen i7 gaming laptop, but for some reason, I use this old machine more as it feel very responsive.

when i built my current ryzen cube, i was gaming on a q6600 clocked to 3ghz, on a old MSI p43 board ... with a r9 380x ... 8gb of crap kingston value ram ... that machine was a beast. but, long term effects of a massive OC on a budget board ... it died a couple months later when it replaced my HTPC ...
@TechTeardownYT
@TechTeardownYT 5 жыл бұрын
I'm glad I didn't go with that MSI board when I was shopping on ebay for this competition. I tried to stick with Asus, Gigabyte and EVGA. I actually originally bought an ASUS Rampage Formula for this but it came dead so I went with the Gigabyte board instead.

What settings did u do in bios to achieve 3.5ghz? I only manage to go to 3.3GHz on a DDR3 Gigabyte board that had 775 socket. And I was using an RX470 4GB card and I bottle-necked the graphic card a lot. How did you achieved that FPS? I think you can achieve that 4GHz OC with a board that supports socket 775 and DDR3 memory.

I took the system apart so give me some time and I'll get it on a test bench for you and get pictures of my bios settings. I did sell the r9 fury already though.

I don't know what's wrong with both your CPU's I've got 2 Core 2 Quad Q6600 and both don't have problem reaching 3.4 or even 3.5. But specially the one with Arctic Freezer 7 on it was a bit too hot. But 3.3 GHz is OK.
@vitfiser2603
@vitfiser2603 5 жыл бұрын
I paired them with gtx 1050 and HD 6770 - with this GPU there was no bottleneck and you're able to play many modern games on it. But the one with gtx 1050 was even bottlenecking it. R9 290 and Fury are insanely overkill for this CPU XD.
