So why am I teaching a "How To Use The Blues Scale Guitar Lesson" if I don't like calling it the Blues Scale? Well, I prefer just adding the "b5" interval into a Minor Pentatonic to achieve the "bluesy" sound. Watch the entire lesson and you'll see what I mean!

As far as "supporting" your videos - they are the reason I have purchased your lesson programs over the years. If I could go back and start over I would weed out almost all of the other programs I have spent time on and done my learning thru your stuff. Thanks again for your YT videos - I think they probably pay off for you in the long run.

Both of these lessons are super helpful to me. Just having all of the pentatonic patterns together and now with the blue note added in really helps me get a start on this. The connecting line is great to see how to move from one part of the next to the other too. I always wondered about that when watching guitar players.

Great work !!! Funny memory...i'm hanging out at a neighbors house who played with another guy who was a better player than both of us. We're watching the new VHS of The Jimi Hendrix movie. Gets to Buddy Miles and "Machine Gun". second cycle of the rat a tat tat solo has slayed me since Band Of Gypsys was a gift when i was 13 in '70. For me, best solo ever recorded. I ask my friend "What IS That??" "Sounds like the Blues scale" . Maybe right,,,simplistic, though.

Always funny how in pentatonic type scales the intervals are always numbered after the 7 tone major scale. The "5" is the fourth note. So pentatonic is the major scale without notes 4 and 7. 4 and 7 make the tritone. Ironically, in blues we omit the natural tritone and then add a tritone to every chord by playing dominant 7s.

Great lesson, short and sweet. The b5 note also shows up in all kinds of rock songs that are not particularly bluesy -- for example, the main riff here, where it's used as a passing tone between the 5th and 4th: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/isygoZaordWyd3U.html

When I was telling my cousin what a blues scale was I said, like everyone does, its the 5-note pentatonic scale. Then I played just the 5 notes and thought, wait, this aint no `blues scale` Maybe the `blues scale` must be more than the just the 5 prescribed notes. I know, the `blues notes` are implied, ya, but it aint no `5-note` scale, technically. Its really a partial chromatic scale isn't it?
