Yes please explain, I can not image an American Dairy farmer going to this much time and expense for something I can only see the advantage in having for sales. Expensive to ship at that. Great video. One thing for confuse a townie like me. The rubber belt in the baler, seems to rest above the transfer trolley which collects the bale to the wrapper. Is the bale made inside this rubber belt or above it ?
@alexveldhuis6004
@alexveldhuis6004 3 жыл бұрын
Inside. There are 2 belts, shaped like 2 halves of a round chamber. the belts run along rollers mounted in such a way that they force the belts to be shaped like the letter C. One half, the rear one pivots at a point near the top, while the front half stays fixed in its position. Once the bale is made and plastc is wrapped around its round egde, circumference, the rear half opens and the bale is released. The bale then gets wrapped completely and then once all oxygen breathing bacteria have used up the remaining oxygen, those bacteria die and non oxygen breathing bacteria start their work. Result; pickled maize, or maize silage, which is the desired end product. a hole in the wrap will cause rotting as oxygen breathing bacteria can survive and spoil the product. This is not desirable and a reson why framers that use these bales don't like certain bird types that hop all over these bales and create like holes with their claws, or indeed pick at them with their beaks.
@vicsams4431
@vicsams4431 3 жыл бұрын
@@alexveldhuis6004 Many thanks indeed for such a brilliant explanation. From the video, you could see a belt hanging down at the rear, but I was puzzled how the bale exited the chamber. You explained it well. The bale is formed between the two half circular belts. Thank you. Dankenval ! (My one Dutch word...) I think I might be able to help with the bird problem. I wonder what attracts them to feed. Do the bales give off an odour that smells like food ? If yes, perhaps masking the smell, might deter them. I would have thought a sterile polythene would not attract birds. I wonder if they are feeding on ants, and peck the plastic by mistake. Or have they learned that food is inside ? Perhaps a tarpaulin covering the top might help. I suspect you also have to be careful that spikey plants do not pierce the polythene, or it gets damaged in transit. I wish you well. I have many good friends in the Netherlands (Amersfoort and Utrecht). Farming is a tough job with long hours in all weathers. I have lifted a roll of polythene wrap, even that required great strength. Good luck. Stay safe amongst this mad world.

@@danielkanthak7994 i grew up in northern norway, and worked at a little farm where we usually had plenty of silage for our animals. but some years we had to transport silage from the ones who had to much to those who was empty.. problem with loose silage is that it dont last long if its loose-taken out of the silo. with plastic coverd round bales you can transport say 24 bales in 1 load that can feed a little farm with 100 goats around 2 weeks becouse you open 1 maybe 2 bales a day so the first years all farmers nearby used the old bunker silos,, but after a few years around 15 farmers in the area bought 1 round baler so all made at least 50 bales that they used last ore sold if they had some ekstra and a neighbour had to little if the winter lasted longer than normal. and if some had some old bales leftover after summer,, they used them first as the snow came. hehe

If it wasn't worth it then they wouldn't do it... In Western Europe they sell them a lot to regular people with 1 or a few cows or other farm animals. Ofc they will pay a premium because they can't build a silage clamp for 1 cow or whatever lol

Seems like an awfully expensive small package of feed that is around 70% water. Now the farmer has to deal with unpacking this thing.

So could you harvest the corn. Then chase the corn picker with a big take and this baler and get 2 crops for one. Then chase the truck with a wheat drill. Get 2 crops and plant a 3rd. Then bale the straw. And plant beans.
