Cornbread Dressing (we call it stuffing at our house) is a traditional dish. It's also an heirloom recipe that was most likely served at Thanksgiving dinners by the pilgrims. This is an all natural, healthier, tastier version than the boxed stuffings. Happy Thanksgiving!
Ingredients:
1 - Batch of Hillbilly Kitchen Cornbread :P
2 - 2 to 2 1/2 cups of chicken or turkey broth
3 - 1 cup of chopped onions
4 - 1 cup of chopped celery
5 - 1/2 cup of real butter
6 - 3 eggs
7 - 1 tablespoon of rubbed sage
8 - 2 teaspoons of parsley
9 - 1 teaspoon of thyme
10 - salt and pepper to taste

When my dad passed in 1987, someone blessed our family weekly with $100 a week in our mailbox for groceries. 30+ years later I still have no idea who did it, but they truly blessed us

When my husband and I were much younger and had 4 young sons to take care of, we were really struggling financially, it was Thanksgiving time, an elderly couple from the neighborhood knocked on our door, and blessed us with a cooked turkey and all the trimmings, and gave us a card that had a 50 dollar bill in it!!! I still remember how that blessed us so so much!!! The elderly woman's name was Bell, it was just so sweet of them. I knew it was God❣️🙏 God is so good!!!

I count my blessings every morning. The roof over my head, the food in my fridge and pantry, the water I use to drink and to keep my body clean. The utilities and heat I have and the dogfood for my dog. These are basic things and I am ever so so so grateful. Thank You Father for keeping me safe and healthy and warm.🙏

I’ll never forget...I was 9 and my mother had four of us children...my father had left us. A lady from the church nearby had heard of our predicament came to our apartment and brought my mom a $100 dollars. My mom fell to her knees thanking God and thanking this very kind soul. ❤️✝️

When my 3 sisters and I were small children, one Thanksgiving we did not have money to buy a turkey or any other Thanksgiving trimmings. My father came home from work the day before thanksgiving with a 20 dollar bill he found on the ground. He and mom went to the store and bought a turkey abd cranberry sauce. Mom made dressing, gravy, and put the turkey in the oven. The Lord blessed Mom and Dad and 4 little girls...my sisters and myself. We were so blessed....and still are. Thank you ❤😊

When my two sons were about four and nine the three of us lived alone. Their father was not in our life at the time. It was nearing Thanksgiving when I had an unexpected visitor knock on my door. An elderly gray haired lady stood there smiling announcing she had a few items in her car to give us! I went out to her car, the trunk was filled with groceries! Meat, fruit, canned foods, milk, eggs everything a family needed!!! She filled my pantry!!! I had never met her, but she had the love of Jesus on her face and in her eyes! I knew she was an angel sent by God to remind me, yes Becky, I will never leave you, forsake you and I will supply your needs according to His riches in Glory!!! I love you and your boys Becky!!! This is exactly how I knew God still loved me and my precious sons!!!

@ John Rogers Heavenly Father in Jesus's mighty name I cast out the spirit of cirrhosis from John and bind it on earth, thank You Jesus for binding it in heaven. In Jesus's name I curse with the fig tree curse, all symptoms, manifestations and underlying causes of cirrhosis of the liver to dry up and die and never to return to him again. Lord Jesus in Your name I loose Your holy, and divine resurrection healing power throughout John's body from the top of his head to the bottom of his feet that by Your stripes he is healed! Thank You Lord Jesus for healing him! Lord we look forward to the praise report he will give and Lord we give You all the glory and the honor , blessed be Your name! Amen and amen! God bless you sir, believe that Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever and that He paid for your healing on the cross at Calvary, with His stripes. He still heals today and healed my Mom from breast and lung cancer!

I just now come come across this video and it is 2 years later I just wanted to say that God just led me your channel about month or so ago. I truly think it was God who led me to you Becky, I think you are such a blessing and God is using you in big way. Thank you for your faithfulness in sharing about our Lord and Savior. My special thanksgiving about what God has done for me is that for the first time in about 3 years I can eat again. I had severely damaged stomach and esophagus and had to live on a feeding tube these past 3 years because I couldn’t swallow. The doctors told me last year that my only hope was to have a very drastic surgery and have my stomach removed. I couldn’t face the thought of that and my church prayed for me last year. I am now eating pretty much normal now and seem to get better every day. I give God all the glory and praise because there have so many other things He has done for me this past year as well as all throughout my life. Thank you again Becky for being on KZfaq and using it for the glory of God. 🙏❤️

You are such a blessing! Thank you for putting God in your videos. My blessing is my son. I had prayed for years for a child, specifically for a boy with blonde hair and blue eyes and a huge personality. I never was able to conceive, but one day I answered the phone and it was CPS, asking if we would take a child in. He was 13 months old and it was to be a temporary placement. Well, he is 26 now. We adopted him nine months after we took him in, and he is everything I asked for and more. God is SO faithful and SO good!

I was blessed to go back to college at the age of 48. I took a class in woodworking and made a a box with a slot in the top. The hardwood came from the classes discard box. The box title was "Count Your Blessings". I donated that box to an art show and auction, the proceeds were for student scholarships. The small box that cost me nothing sold for $70. The blessings just kept multiplying. They have never stopped.

Thank you for sharing. My story is pretty simple. I have been clean and sober since October 15, 1985. Unless you count the laughing gas I had during oral surgery. Christmas is kinda rough for me because I am alone. I never learned how to treat others in a way that they should be treated. But I have God and He is a lot more forgiving of my mistakes. Merry Christmas to your family.

Think nice reeps nice, maybe when you were a kid nobody told you or it wasn't showed to you but in n this day and time its even harder to maintain friends but find 3 or 4 people and invite them over for dinner or take them to lunch one by one. But try to be nice. God bless you, and happy Thanksgiving!!!

As the Thanksgiving holiday approaches, I longed for the recipe of my Mother's dressing. She died three years ago, and although the loss is still very painful, we always found such "togetherness" when we prepared dinner. She was VERY particular about her dressing, and insisted that HER recipe was always followed. I have lost the recipe and her presence. But the Lord blessed me today! I had been looking at recipes all day, not even thinking about stuffing, but lo and behold, I stumbled on this!!!! I teared up, because it was a blessing in disguise......THIS is her recipe! Praise the Lord, for bringing you to me to deliver this recipe, and to her for all the wonderful memories I have of so many Thanksgiving we spent together!

A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. 15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Becky, you never fail to have the exact recipe my mother made (which wasn't a written recipe) or something so close to it you can't tell the difference. And here you have done it again! For 18 years or a little more, I made my mother's Chicken and Dressing once or twice a year. I know what goes in it, but I never bothered to memorize it, because I had my little cheat sheet of instructions taped up inside one of the cabinet doors. Well I'm a long way from home this year with no way to get my cheat sheet, so I've turned to you once again. And like all the other times you've got almost the exact recipe as my mom!! If my mom were my age, she'd be you!!! You're a tremendous blessing, Becky! God bless you and yours, and Merry Christmas 2022. 🎄🙏

I have been blessed most of my life. With health, a great Air Force career, family, opportunities, friends and a fantastic husband whom I’ve been married to 46 years today. A moment in time in 1978 a woman in my brothers church walked up to me and gave me the message of Salvation. We were there on a whim. It changed me forever. I accepted Christ as my Savior 2 days later. Many struggles and years later, I got sober ion January 2002. We may walk away…but God never leaves us. Thank you for your videos. God bless you.

It's July and my son begged me to make him turkey and dressing. He never asks for anything being an adult and away from the home so I feel it is something I want to do even though money is tight. The turkey breast cost was $16.00 and I need rubbed sage and some corn meal. It is 94 degrees right now in South Carolina and the air will have to work really hard as I am cooking the turkey and dressing and since I made this recipe that made him fall in love with turkey and dressing, I am back to recreate the same. My blessing is to hear you talk about God and how we can simply talk to God and hear about Him and feel joy. I appreciate your blessings as well as the recipe! Thank you again!

I am grateful for some friends that prayed for me when I was in a really difficult situation and gave me hope. Hope in Jesus as my strength and provider. They told me he would be my husband. I look back at how far I’ve come and God has grown me as a Christian from an infant to one who eats solid food from God’s word!! His Word has sustained me and I am so grateful!! We always do giblet dressing! I love it. My grandmother was raised on a farm and they did not let anything go to waste! But your cornbread recipe sounds wonderful so I just might try! I an an older single mom and in the beginning after he left things were tough, but then and along the way, we received food boxes, and even toys at Christmas. My kids were thrilled and have memories of this. I have tried to pay forward when God shows me needs. I'm so grateful for a God that cares about these details!

What a wonderful video. This video reminded of the time that I spent with my dad on Thanksgivings past. He would work all day, then, come home to cook in the wee hours of Thanksgiving morning. He would talk about our family history, but mostly, the blessings of God. It's this tradition that I am most thankful for this year. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! 💗

Thank you for the word of God included with your great classic recipe. My grateful memories are my Grandma Lewis's cornbread dressing, too. She hosted dinner for all her family every Christmas on the Sunday following Dec. 25. She had 12 children in the '20s and '30s. Generally there were 60 or more people at her house for the celebration. May God bless all who have a loving family. And may we who did enjoy this benifet, share with others lavishly. This will carry on the commandment Jesus gave us, to love one another.

Becky, I just wanted to say how much I am blessed by your videos. Not only do you offer recipes that are so close to those I was raised on ~ but you offer words of encouragement and scriptural references that are often just what I was needing to hear. I also wanted to express the sorrow I felt (and still feel) regarding Bret's passing. Even though it has been a bit over a year, I am still saddened by your loss. I'm sure it must be like losing a large part of who you are. I am fortunate to still have my husband of 44 years, we've been together since 1973, married in 1978. Just the thought of waking up without him beside me is fear-inspiring. And so, I would like to offer sincere prayers for peace and happiness as the holidays and another New Year begin to roll into our lives. I admire your strength and testimony. Blessings, Alicia

I have eight siblings, and this is the exact dressing that our beloved momma made. She made so much of it though she mixed it up in a round metal dishpan. It was so good we’d eat it right out of the pan she was mixing it in. I don’t think she put eggs in it though. She went to be with our Lord 26 years ago, and her making this dressing and smiling, and letting us eat it by the spoonful or small bowlful are some of my greatest memories. Thank you for making this great recipe.

Thank you the cornbread dressing recipie. I've made dressing every year but I liked your recipe and will be using it this year. I wanted to say that when I lost my oldest daughter some time ago, I was grieving during the holiday season that year. The Lord spoke to me through His Word. In Isaiah 53:4 The Lord spoke to me that He was bearing the grief with me and that He was carrying my sorrow and pain with me. It gave me such comfort to know He was with me during that difficult time.

What a beautiful woman you are honey. I absolutely love your dishes you prepare. Keep on making more wonderful videos. We enjoy them all! God bless you! Year's ago, when my daughter was younger we had so many time's when we didn't have much. I became a single parent after a messy divorce. As the years went by I struggled desperately to make ends meet. But every Thanksgiving someone would either invite us to dinner and send food home with us or bring me food to cook. We always made a way to have a nice day. God has been good to us. On Easter of 2016 I lost my 34 year old daughter. I still feel very blessed that I had her for 34 year's. I miss her terribly but God has given me a life full of love.

This is a very similar recipe my mother used to make when she was alive. I remember the Christmas before she died she said "Lisa" write down this recipe in your cookbook. I did and I have it to look back on every year now. The only difference in the recipe is that she made a cornbread and biscuit dressing. She used chicken stock, sage, thyme and poultry seasoning and made it in a pan. I can remember those years coming into her kitchen and smelling those wonderful smells of the holidays. My mother has been gone now for 20 years and every year I look forward to making her pan stuffing and my family looks forward to enjoying it. Thank you for the meals you share with us all. Blessings to you and your family this Thanksgiving and in the years to come.

Thank you so much for sharing this recipe. My family was from Huntsville, AL and I wanted to see how close it was to my grandmother's recipe. It's exactly the same except that I had never been taught to add beaten eggs to the stuffing. I'm the last one left in my family and I'm teaching my son to cook. He's 23 (just to show my age). Well, what a lightbulb moment. The eggs were exactly what I was missing! I was taught by a neighbor also to add in half a cup of melted butter when you put the broth in. It's the best cornbread stuffing I've ever had. Now, I can pass it on, so thank you so very much.

A day before thanksgiving, broke, between jobs... a knock at door 2 people started bringing groceries to my porch for a thanksgiving meal (and then some) one of the doctors at UCLA hospital was in the habit of giving away groceries to 2 families during the holidays.
