How do you take a corner in RC? It's a question that needs answers! I filmed my B6.2 on my local carpet off-road track, and analyzed my line selection and brake/throttle technique.
*Update* I had planned on making more, but this will probably be my only RC car video. Life happens, priorities shift, time to move on for me.

Thanks for taking the time to make this, I was looking for this information specifically. Just got some Mini-B cars and wanting to learn the fastest way around corners.

I would try continued high speed out of the sweeper while making the turn longer to move to the outside lane position. Then to set up both of those tight turns I would not make the obvious apex the actual apex. The first turn apex would be the middle of the lane so you come out of turn right along the left wall, but you still have made a full smooth turn. That sets you up really well to hit the obvious apex on the next corner without making the track much longer but keeping more speed through that section. The obvious apex isn't always the actual apex, basically 😃

Would be amazing to see some sort of throttle/steering graph to compare live time. Great video for some pointers though! Cannot wait to start applying similar to my 1/10 on road cars

Wow, what a cool video. You're definitely right about the plentiful auto cornering resources vs minimal RC resources. I found it hard to transfer auto racing cornering technique to RC because in full scale cars you transfer weight to the front tires via heavy braking as you initiate a turn. But with a trigger, it's not the same as having 3 pedals. Do you use a drag brake setting or have a method of coming off the brakes?

Hey there! Greetings from UK. Great topic and very well explained - I am entering the hobby and keep to learn more. Would you deal with the cornering differently if it was a awd car? On a side note wouldn't fit be amazing and a useful tool if we could have displayed on a footage the type of telemetry we see in formula 1 where it displays the throttle and break positions and the Gs and speed. Maybe this is available and I don't know about it? Thanks.

Before making this video, I had posted in a FB group asking for ideas on what videos to create. Someone tagged RH with this idea (cornering), and he said that it would take too much editing :) I suggested just filming a race and analyzing a good corner technique, and a poor corner technique.

In these examples are you letting go of the throttle and slowing down or also pushing your trigger finger forward to brake too? I find it very difficult to keep momentum if I try to actually stop using the throttle, use brakes and then roll on to the throttle again. It could be that I'm using a slow car but I'd like to understand what to do?

This is were setting your drag brake helps. Drag brake is a setting on the ESC that begins applying light braking force to the motor when your throttle is in the neutral position. This helps keep throttle control movement to a minimum and increases the amount of fine control you can apply.

Ah sheet I thought this was for onroad then got disappointed. However I think the answer to this question lies in the various car set up parameters that exist no matter the type of RC racing that you do. Namely on set up parameters that affect cornering, corner steering, etc. From there it requires experimentation with your indivual driving style.
