+Audun Jemtland 10 minutes. I use Slime Away in my shop. If left longer than 10 minutes if it's plated it will etch the silver and turn it brown. Then you have to polish it to fix it. If it's lacquered then it will start to take off the lacquer. It won't take off any metal. You could leave it over night. It will just turn the brass pink. Hope this helps!

Where did you learn your trade? I really want to at least understand how to fix my own trumpets. Haven't seen any thorough tutorials on it. Vincent is the best on youtube thus far. As the layers of gunk makes an instrument poor, so would stripping off "one" layer aswell?

I learned on the job. Just takes lots of practice and repetition with a good teacher. Buffing is the only thing that can take metal off. If one is using a stripper rouge like tripoli it will take the lacquer or the plating right off. It can take off brass making it thinner but if you do it right you can strip a horn with out affecting the playing characteristics.

La cire de musée est faite à base de cire microcristaline en bloc mélangée avec de la thérébentine et de la benzine sans odeur utilisée pour les préparations de droguerie. Je vais tâcher de faire une vidéo explicative. Pour la Belgique j'ai bien un confrère qui a peut-être des notions semblables aux miennes il est a Vervier, vous le trouverez facilement. ​​​@@jacquesdeghorain3162 Hello Jacques. J'ai acheté sur Le Bon Coin pour 20 euros un saxhorn alto ancien du fabricant DeCarre à Lierre. Cet instrument était juste en laiton poli. Quand je l'ai eu il était patiné, sans trop de vert-de-gris, avec une fine oxydation brune. Je l'ai nettoyé avec du lustrant Spado et je l'ai passé au cirage Baranne incolore en tube. Et bien ça a résisté plus d'un an sans bouger. Faute d'en jouer car je suis au contretuba, je l'ai donné à quelqu'un quasiment dans l'état où je l'avais entretenu. J'aimais bien ce saxhorn qui avait un enroulement de moins dans la tuyauterie et, pour son premier tour, le tuyau principal passait au dessus des pistons comme pour l'euphonium. Bon voilà l'entretien sans doute le moins cher, mais de toute évidence, du travail d'amateur (que je suis). Je m'en irais tantôt boire une bonne bière belge à la santé des luthiers !
