excellent and clear advice plasterRepairTips, did a room today with internal to external etc etc, you don't want to see my failed attempt offcut bin, haha. In the end just made ask the corners and then for long straights in between. filled the gaps as best I could, thinking about a little bit of polyfilla and sanding to make it more seamless before I paint. Got a square room to do next so thought I'd watch a few tutorials as I want to get to grips with it without having to make 4 seperate corners and cutting straights to fit. Thanks again for all advice, part 1 was great for the internal/externals etc.

Great videos. I'm going to have a go at replacing old cracked 55mm cove with 90mm cove for a more modern clean look. Will cornice adhesive stick to solid plaster painted walls? And painted ceilings. Do I have to do anything to prep my plaster walls after removing my old cornice?

Hi, Great video series, has taugh me a few things and confirmed a few others I was already doing :). I do a little bit here and there, I am fine with hanging the sheet, setting the sheets and corners etc. I can butter and hang the cornice, but I always end up with a slightly crap mitre, I know you prob do it all the time and I often run around and draw a line at the 50, or 90mm mark, or whatever size cornice I am using, I just cut a block of wood and then run around the ceiling with that. Any tips to make sure I get a good mitre, and also is it possible for you to do a bit of a vid on how to use the small tool, I seem better with the broad knife but I would love to master mitres and the small tool.

Good point. I always keep an eye on the gauge (mixed plaster). Normally I have a good 30 minutes as I know the mix but I do appreciate your comment and yes ALWAYS keep an eye on how the plaster is setting or in your case clean as you go. Many thanks Regards

I can appreciate a capable carpenter as you say can cut mitres as described by your comment.. I'm showing traditional plastering tips so that a home handy person can attempt at fixing cornices without buying expensive equipment for a small or once off job. Thanks for the info, is there a video link where we can all see?

You can practice with a couple of extra offcuts. Cove cornices are not too expensive so if you give it a go as per videos and check it on the wall before putting glue you'll soon catch on. I know it sound strange at first to flip the cornice upside down to cut the mitre and remember for the right internal cut the left side and vice versa. For right external mitres you cut the the left side but the opposite miter cut. Don't be afraid of making a o of boo boos. Persist and you'll see what happens. Good luck!!

Can any one else work that what you're talking about?? The videos are designed to help any D.I.Y's out there. Looks like a high teck way of doing thing. Is it practical for most of us? I disagree about the truck comment but please send me a link or example of what you are trying to explain to us in better detail. Thanks for your comment by the way. Regards

Nice vid, you're a pro. I'm struggling with wavy ceilings, wavy walls and angles not 90 degrees. An absolute nightmare. There doesn't seem to be any method for getting this right other than stuffing loads of filler into the gaps which are EVERYWHERE !!
@plasterrepairtips

Sir Bob thanks for your comment Sir Bob. Most rooms are square and they are ay 90 degrees therefore you cut the miters at 45 degrees( 2 x 45 = 90). So if you have a angle that's not 90 degrees get a protractor, measure the angle and half it for the miters you need to cut...eg. for an internal miter your protractor tells you the angle is say 45 degrees then the miter must be cut at 22.5 degrees and if the external miter is at say 70 degrees then the external cut is 35 degrees

rough! If you do it properly you don't need to clean all the shit off the coving because pros don't get shot all over the coving.

Look at the state of the cove Phillip McIntosh it's covered in muck with doesn't help when you paint. As for achieving negatives, I have two successful businesses with four employers in each , a nice home , a lovely wife and a daughter so I'm doing just fine thank you. Why don't you just tell me to fuck off then instead of saying you would do. Fucking pussy. As a professional who's been in the trade for twenty years I can give a valid opinion . And don't mouth at strangers when you're ip is so traceable you think cunt. This was 24 weeks ago. Move on
