Caroline and I restarted our weekly Butterfly and Dragonfly Transects at Cornmill Tree Park and Meadows on 11th April 2024. The first week's weather was warm and sunny so there were lots of butterflies around. However, spring rain meant that various paths were too muddy to traverse so detours had to be found. A detour wasn't possible in one area so it was muddy boots and socks for both of us.The second week was very cool so we didn't see much and it wasn't worth going for the next two weeks as the weather was so poor. Thankfully we had hot sun on May 9th so saw many butterflies and several different damselflies. The rest of May was hopeless - too cold and wet. Let's hope the weather will improve in June!
