We are Tania (Irish/Mexican) & Adam (English) & in Sep 2019, we left our busy lives in London to travel Europe in our 21-year-old campervan named Jitters aka Jits 🚐 💕 Living in a van & capturing our adventures through film & photography is our biggest creative endeavour yet. Jits is a 1999 Peugeot Boxer Autosleeper 'Symphony'. Jits belonged to Adam's mum, Sally, who sadly passed away in Jan 2019 from ovarian cancer. During this time, we were reminded how life is too short and felt inspired to take the plunge & pursue our dream of full-time van life.

Hey Simon! I definitely agree with you that it’s easier to spread the jam on first that’s why at first I thought it would be a no brained. However, as soon as I tasted the Devon way and I tasted the jam first, my heart was sold! 🤤 haha very serious chat all together 😆 And thank you for the paddleboard suggestions! So fun! 😅 xx Tania

Cream first always but I am from Devon. I think you also get the flavour of the jam better when it's on top. By the way Fowey is pronounced Foy. The crimp on the pasty thing is a bit of a myth. I was doing a local history project and discovered that. There were a load of interviews with mining families and they all confirmed that no the crimp wasn't for holding. The pasties were wrapped in a cloth most of the time in the same way as we put them in paper bags before we put them in a bag or pocket so there was no need for someone to be holding them directly with dirty hands. They also wouldn't have wasted the calories of the crimp.

Jam, THEN cream. The cream is lighter so it spreads easier on the solid jam whereas the solid jam squashes down and mooshes in with the cream if places last. So if you want to keep your jam cream free or your cream jam free then you should put the jam on first and then lightly spread the cream on top! Such a controversial subject! LOL! As for waking up...I need to get out of the bed quickly but then it takes me about an hour with my coffee to truly be awake. You guys stirring things up! How about Sam the SUP board? Sam is good for a girl or boy! Lovely vid, as always!

Proper traditional Cornish Clotted Cream is THICK though - much thicker than the jam, which is why many people put the jam on afterwards. If everyone was using thinner, runnier cream like shown here, then most people would be putting jam on first because it’s so much easier. I’m a cream first then jam guy myself, but let’s be honest, there is no “right” or “wrong” way to do it, it’s just personal preference.

You guys, with your positive attitude, are a fresh breeze in my life every time you release a video! I love the rain too. I also find it fascinating how rain smells different wherever you go. Probably due to what it falls on (soil, vegetation, etc). Rain in my native Germany smells different to rain in the UK and different again to rain in Spain or any other country I've been to and lived in. I also love being out in it (as long as it's not icy). It makes getting back into the warmth and dry of your home so much more pleasant. 😉 It is scientifically proven that men (because they have a more difficult life) need longer to wake up in the morning!! We also suffer more when we have a flu. That's the truth! I read it on the interweb. 😁 Triggy is so cute! He's going to have a whale of a time with you two in Europe! 👍🏽😉🐶 All the best from my rock in the Atlantic! 🙏🏽😎

The coastline reminds me a bit of the coastline on the western side of the US ☺️. When you were talking about “showing some kindness” to those cows, I got so sad. I don’t eat meat anymore, for that reason. Im not vegan, but the little bit of animal parts that I eat (eggs) I make sure come from happy, pasture raised chickens. When I’m awake, I “jump” out of bed, ready to start my day. When I was a child, we spent hours picking blackberries every September. My mama would make jam. One year she cooked them too long, and she spread them on a cookie sheet, and make candy. Yummmmm

That was interesting 😁. We have three dogs and one always barks at dogs on TV but I know I can always relax when I watch your channel. When you said you were picking someone up I thought it’s a dog, then I breathed a sigh of relief when it was Tania’s mum only to find she also had a dog, so hell broke lose at 10.15pm 😂. Anyway, it’s definitely cream first like Adam said, who puts butter on top of jam? I definitely take time to wake up in the morning, especially in the van! Then as you were walking in the rain and saying you like it in the van in the rain, Adam said get a dog (or three) which was exactly what I was thinking 😳. Finally, I’m from a coal mining family in the NE of England and my father worked at the pit from 14 years of age, I chuckled when you said inflating your kayak was hard work! I would probably say the same but it shows how times have changed. I think those Cornish miners must be well off to throw the pasty crust away, we would feed it to the hens 😁. As always thanks for sharing a fabulous video. I really enjoyed it. 🤣🤣

Firstly, sorry about all the unexpected commotion that we caused in your furry household 😆🐕 And you’re absolutely right… we are incredibly privileged not to be living in these times when we can consider effort to mean pumping up a SUP board to enjoy, and not to the hard labour like what your father had to endure. It is why I often think about how owe a lot to the generations that have come before us. A lovely, uplifting video. I lived in Devon (for a while and on my days off from work, would travel to various destinations on the bus, in order to find the best scone! I agree with the jam first but tbqh, I prefer fruit ones! Your camper looks so cosy and roomy. We tried our first night in our newly acquired, old camper, last weekend, my 30 midge bites are now disappearing but it was fun. I’m usually raring to go in the morning but my husband has speeded up, I’ll give him that!

My husband is an early riser, up and ready to go before the sun even comes up. I need to see sunlight and then take my time getting up, have my tea, think about my day, etc. I've always been that way. I'm with you Adam! ☺️

Cornwall cream tea all the way. i have no idea how you manage to spread jam on top of cream without it become just a big pile of mush!! I felt so middle aged watching this as all i could think when you were walking in the rain was where are your raincoats! lol! The name of your SUP that makes the most sense to me is Sits. It rhymes with Jits and you sit on the darned thing :) Also, it sounds really good when you say Sits SUP !

I'm team Adam on mornings. It's like a bear coming out of hibernation. Jam first is the only reasonable way to do cream tea. Jam needs friction to pull it off the knife. You can't just spread it on cream.

thanks for showing Port Isaac, takes us back. Here in Australia, its often called a 'devonshire' tea . a few days ago we had some nice gluten-free scones with our devonshire tea at a strawberry farm. yum! its a real treat to find gluten-free scones. BTW if you ever come to Australia you need to try an australian pasty.
