It's really sad to see Bryan Mosely (Alf Roberts) looking so unwell. On the plus side Blanche, Deirdre's mother, is so much fun - like Maude she has no filter on her mouth and says what she thinks.

Eve, I cannot thank you enough for all the videos you have done for the many corrie fans in the states. I watch the current on Britbox but being able to really know most the the origins of many of the current cast. I’m home bounded with my mom and she is just as big a fan. I know that after 2000 the quality did go down hill. I hope you will one day upload 2000 thru 2005. You are an angle, if you take contributions I will be the first to support. All the best you❤️❤️❤️❤️

CubanoX - I'm an expat Londoner living in Australia and I also subscribe to Britbox. Like you, I've loved catching up with these retro eps via Eve's channel on KZfaq. Corrie definitely started to become seriously silly after 2000 - to the point where I can't be bothered to watch the new daily eps on Britbox - which thankfully is worth the money for all the brilliant British TV shows available.😃

An aggressive moron who shouts rather speaks, and seems incapable of pronouncing 't' in the middle of a word without replacing with a 'k' sound. 6:21:28 - Oh no, is this the first appearance of Alison, the future second Mrs. Webster? For me, she was another dreary, whiny young female, much in the same mould as Kimberley Taylor (from the early 90s). I realise Alison was to be a tragic figure, but her limp character and Pinky & Perky voice, which made her sound like a 5-year-old, really drove me up the wall.

3:27:42 - Zoe's exit to live weirdly-ever-after in Cult Land was so clumsily done. I always felt she should have had her final scene with the confrontation at Nirab HQ, and gone out with a bang, so to speak. Instead, she was dragged back to No. 4 to drearily mull things over (again) with soppy Ashley crying buckets over his inadequacies and still willing to twist himself into a pretzel for her. And she still wasn't interested! Thank god she left, so he could finally stop 'mithering.'

I hope this is goodbye and good riddance to Zoe. She was a bundle of misery from the minute she first appeared. Together with everyone called McDonald, her endless grim storylines helped suck the humour out of the last 2 years of Corrie.

It was a depressing storyline but should've stopped with Katy/Shannon's death to highlight meningitis and its effects. The cult storyline started off pointing out how vulnerable people are taking advantage of etc but ended up like an advert for Scientology.
@itallia666
@itallia666 Жыл бұрын
BEFORE YOU READ THIS JUST TO SAY ITS A LONG REPLY. I agree it could have turned out with more focus on these dreadful cult groups! Without making the storyline drone on & on. I once turned up with friends at A cult introduction evening although at the time we werent aware of the sinister inner core of these cults But my alarm bells started ringing once the " talk " got going! They projected these mesmeric patterns onto the walls 0f this meeting hall, these patterns slowly turned & pulsed with lights behind, also this low vibrating sound Obviously designed to alter brain Or celebral functions via the emitted frequencies. Having worked for many years in Psychological assesent & evaluation i became well aware of what was going on which was manipulation of the subtle kind to draw in unsuspecting people. We honestly thought it was an evening of meditation, crystal healing, higher consciousness & pure dedication to relaxing & self healing. Thats how the whole thing was structured! To suck in those vunerable people Once the " herbal" tea was served around, i knew it wasnt kosher herbs but something to induce mild sedation. I told my friends something was very wrong, i managed to soak a hanky in some of this herbal tea & put it in a plastic bag. We got up to leave but not before i noticed some of the members lining up along the walls & near the entrance & glaring at us We did leave but they questioned us, asking where we were from ( which in itself caused me to wonder who they thought we were... which didnt seem friendly) I really felt worried about this group, id already studied the influence of cult practices during my degree in Psychology & how they exert influence on vunerable & weak people. I got in touch with some friends in mental health plus another friend who worked in forensics To analyse the " herb tea" Which turned out to contain small amounts of Bella Donna, Jimson Weed plus other herbs to cause slight sedation & mild hallucinatory effects!! Trouble is, none of those herbs are illegal & can be picked out in the countryside Whoever combined them in a tea knew exactly how much to add per litre or so of hot water Nothing to cause harm but combined with the mesmeric lights, patterns & "music" would have an enhanced effect on many of the people there, making them more open to suggestion. Ive been to many retreats, properly run, with vegan & vegetarian menu's, open meditation, stress Management etc & the best one is Samaye Lings just over the border in Scotland. Its based on Buddhism & everyone works tilling the land, gardening, cooking & meditation Its basic but its a beautiful place with a world wide reputation & a waiting list to stay You pay for your visit, its all open & free for inspection its no cult Even when Richard Gere the film actor came to Britain he stayed at Samaye Lings, many famous people who follow the teachings of Buddha stay there. You can request all their literature or look them up online They have nothing to hide Its the same with Findhorn also in Scotland where everything is grown organically & they do meditation etc. These are fully open to all & they only advocate organic food, meditation, healing with crystals Harmonic sound & music It does people a power of good to relieve stress, addictions, illness Depression etc & i for one have had marvellous stays at both places & have felt 100% better after my stays & meeting some marvellous people. Im not advertising these places they are online with tons of brochures, received many awards & praise from the medical profession what i mean is, these shadowy cults try to cash in 0n these good retreats Findhorn for instance started in the 1950s with pure organic crop rearing & agriculture Even Margaret Thatcher our ex Prime Minister visited Findhorn & Was bowled over by their concerns & belief in organic farming. These cults try to emulate these places but behind them they are Very dubious & do various illegal & underhand things, they have Sinister backers & once they reel someone in, that person works for free, recruits others, they have no mind of their own & in some cases, esp young females They are put into the sex trade or sent overseas to work in brothels etc, as Zoes cult asked her to have a baby for the cult. In America, one cult that did this too, were illegally selling babies to childless couples for big bucks In essense they were baby faming!! Via young girls recruited into their cult. They are dreadful terrible set ups these cults & are world wide That place i saw was centred not more than 10 miles from me in north Northumberland in England They buy these large secluded houses & behind the whole thing they are coining it in. They make a great deal of money From the subjugation of others. You don't hear alot about them nowadays but they still exist But laws have changed alot since they were popular & authorities have more control. Im not sure if you're from America but there are so many more cults there & its much more difficult to control them too. There are complete health authority sections where they de programme brain washed people Its a long & fraught job & some heavily indoctrinated young people never respond to treatment, & go back to their cult & never heard from again. Very very sad & a terrible way to treat trusting vunerable people. I think Corrie writers could have done abit better in emphasising some of the pitfalls as ive just done, They started the story but didnt outline the extreme dangers that Zoe was in Instead they shot a pretty christmas theme, pretty lights Carol Singers, an endearing scene of Zoe biding a tearful but sweet goodbye to her Corrie street friends, & off she went with cult leader Ben... That was irresponsible on their part & did nothing to warn young people of the evil sinister core of these cults ! That's the problem with these storylines! They fail to redress the problem Out of sight, out of mind Very bad indeed. So sorry ive gone on abit, but having seen these cult recruitment tactics & what ive learned about them, it makes me shudder in disgust & fear at how easy it is to ensnare our young people Hope you understand my concern as ive seen & heard some horrible stories about these cults! Hope you are in good spirits & i wish you & yours well Regards & respect 🇬🇧👧

£250,000 with UK inflation now is £560,000 or thereabouts. You could travel around the world on a quarter of million easily back then, especially if she invested it and had a good interest rate.

She blew a bunch on the failed business with Steve, and later paid him $15,000 in their divorce settlement. So she didn't have the full inheritance when she took off.

06:30:59 - Despite the fact Blanche was the mother-in-law from hell for Ken, she still believed that Ken was the right man for Deirdre and I think she was right. She was definitely, also, right about Deirdre's taste in men. Deirdre loved men who gave her excitement. I think Blanche's belief that if Deirdre hadn't have slept with Mike, Ken wouldn't've then had his affair with Wendy Crozier is right to a small extent, but I think it's probably not quite as simple as that. Ken wasn't always the most supportive of husbands and didn't always put others before himself.
