Smoker's cry I think, if I remember rightly Deirdre always sounded that way when crying. Same when laughing, my grandma had a similar kind of laugh and she smoked most of her life. Anne Kirkbride sounded the same in real life, I believe heavy smoking contributed to her death, remember seeing her in a documentary about her life and she did the smoker's laugh :)

I loved Blanche so much. She was so acerbic and so funny! Her scenes with Ken and Deirdre were always gold. This was back when I watched it regularly. Loved it back then.

He has always been so up himself. I have been watching 60s episodes and he wrote a magazine article in a left wing rag after speaking to his neighbours. He belittled all of them and Len Fairclough punched his lights out.🤣 He's never changed.

Ken was always a cheater during his and Deirdre's marriage and his son Peter has followed in his footsteps. The Barlow family has always been falling apart over the years and will probably do so for many more years to come, similarly with the Platt's and the Grimshaw's

It was a brief throwback to what he was like back in the 60s. They revisited this side in more detail back in February and March 2017, which caused the attack.
