Narcissists don’t-exactly know right-from-wrong so it certainly wasn’t going to be Charlie doing the right thing by admitting he wasn’t husband-material at any point, n’er-mind at that altar. It was either Shelley made a move at the altar or years of more gaslighting and overall-abuse.

Charlies anger when he got jilted by Shelley just shows that he was an abusive and manipulative man. Any other person would have reacted with upset and shame over being jilted but an abuser would be angry as they always think they're right

Like most women she never saw it coming, it starts small and ends up family and friendless, isolation and worn down so far you believe it is your own fault. So glad you have never been in the situation. It takes so long to get over and there is never any trust left years later, always in the back of your mind how you are fat-old-ugly-boring and more and cannot do anything right.

Shelly should have taken time to heal from Peter but she just went straight into another relationship and ignored the warning signs. You are what you attract.
