It is one of the most common exits for mid-level investment bankers because of its superior work / life balance and sense of responsibility. Corp dev can be a very attractive way to become an industry specialist while working in a more humane environment.

Great video as usual. Could you make a video solely on hedge funds. I know you’ve compared hedge funds to PE in prior videos, and it was great. Just want to learn more about it, especially since you have mentioned having friends that work in the industry. Thanks man, keep doing your thing.

Agreed, I was thinking the same thing. Since Corp Strategy roles are an alternative for Mgmt Consultants, How does the Corp Dev team and the Corp Strategy team work together?

Hey Matt, I am currently looking at pursuing an MBA from Ivey business school at western as well as the CFA designation, in order to obtain a position at an investment bank. However, my bachelors degree is from Athabasca University which is by no means a top tier school. If I get an MBA from Ivey and a CFA designation, will anyone care where I did my bachelors? Please let me know your thoughts on this. Thanks!

I think people will make note of your bachelor's, but it will likely only be a tiebreaker during recruiting. If you're a good candidate at the MBA level, people are more likely to disregard your bachelor's.

CFA is irrelevant for Investment Banking and Ivey is not a target… just do M7 MBA and network

Corp Strategy tends to be more general corporate decisions like partnerships, new business lines, where to expand. Corp Dev definitionally is much more focused on M&A. At smaller companies, I've seen Corp Dev / Corp Strat under the same group.
